Marketing & PR: Leveraging PR
Many entrepreneurs have the misconception that Public Relations will magically get them more customers, but that is not necessarily the case. What PR can do is build an awareness of your product. This awareness will create credibility for your business among those who were already interested in it.
Many small businesses when they’re starting out fixate on how to get more press, but that’s not very advantageous. In the startup world, it’s way more beneficial to focus all of your time and energy into knowing how to:
- Land customers
- Make a sale
- Use marketing to your benefit.
If press should follow that, then great. It certainly can’t hurt. But in the beginning as you are working to establish your product or service in the marketplace, just focus on your sales and marketing first and foremost.
