As an entrepreneur or a business owner it’s important to be recognized and respected within your industry. So becoming an authority in your industry can help your business, it can help with bringing in new leads and increasing the respect that you have within your field. So become clear on what is your specialty. What is it that you could talk all day about that you really know about? That you are providing to your clients. Make sure you’ve put in your time and research the heck out of whatever it is that you specialize in.

And one way you can do this and stay up to day with what’s happening is by setting Google Alerts. So that’s something that is free. Just go and Google Google alerts and it will let you put in keyword phrases. So if your specialty is doing taxes for non-profits, go ahead and put a Google Alert for non-profit tax. And then every time there is a new story or something new in the web it’s going to come right to your e-mail, and it keeps you in the loop on what’s going on in your industry.

Another thing that you can use is HARO. It’s called Help A Reporter Out. So Google Help A Reporter Out. You will find the service. You sign up it’s free, and every day you will get these queries from different reporters and look for ones that applies to you. So again you’ve got this tax specialist watch for the tax requests. You know, it’s tax season. They want to write an article about taxes. Go ahead and write in. And one important thing is writing in quickly when you’re dealing with press.

Another thing that you can do is go ahead and start a blog and blog regularly whether it’s once a week or once every two weeks. And it doesn’t have to long. But it goes ahead and builds up that respect and that authority and that you know what you are talking about and that you are current.

Another thing you can do is guest blog. So keep an eye on what else is going on out there. Who are some other respected authorities and then make contact with some of these other bloggers and offer to write a guest blog. And at this point having some articles a set of listed U.S. and authority having your own blog will help them trust that your blog is going to be relevant and helpful for them.

And it’s a show. You’re a character. And so understanding what the audience wants to see from you and putting that out there for them.
