SEO is something that my clients ask me about regularly, and it’s something that they don’t fully understand. In a nutshell, it’s just having your website show up closer to the top of search engines. Google would be the one that most people would think of.
So in order to do these, you want to have great content. For starters, when you’re planning your website, really think about it, look at other sites that are similar to yours and the same industry and build up that content; have it all relevant to what you do and make yourself in authority and it will increase the chances of you showing up sooner in Google.
Another thing that you can do is create linkbacks so that is posting links to your website on, you know, whether it’s a service directory or whether it’s in social media sites or posting it on another blog. But don’t be a spammer and go on other people’s blogs and just post a linkback to your site. That’s weird and they’re just going to delete it and it doesn’t do any good for you. So make them relevant links but having links that come back to your site is great.
And another thing is, you can’t just do it and then stop. Like, “Oh, I did my SEO and now I’m done.”
That’s not the way it works. You have to keep doing it so keep adding content to your site. Keep putting those links out there. Keep writing, keep it up, just keep getting it out there because it doesn’t just, “I did it once and now I’m done and, you know, I don’t need to do anything else.” It’s not how it works. It’s consistent, constantly changing.
Another thing that you can do is if you really want to get into it and learn more, just Google the words, “Google search engine optimization starter guide.” It’s Google search engine optimization starter guide. So if you’re working on your own site or you want to learn more about title tags and meta tags, that will give you an in-depth way to understand it and it’s coming straight from the source so it will tend to be updated because search engine optimization best practices change all the time.
So those are a few little tidbits on how you can get started with SEO and things you can do to increase the SEO of your own site.
