How to Make an Outstanding First Impression as a Woman in Business
Alaia Williams, Founder of One Organized Business (http://www.oneorganizedbusiness.com/), shares three ways for women to make a great first impression. This offers pointers on maintaining confidence and lay the foundation for connections that will last.
- Be over-prepared & make a strong connection with the person
- Believe in your own value
- Capitalize on any shared interests or connections
As a woman in business, it's really important that you make an outstanding first impression on any and everyone that you meet.
A key thing to remember is that it's very important to be over prepared and mention specific points or things in common that you have with the people that you're meeting. Know their hobbies and activities if you can. Look them up on Facebook or Twitter and see if they have profiles there, so you have some talking points when you meet them.
Next and something that's really important that I'm very passionate about is that you need to be confident in your own value. When you’re talking to someone about your service or your business offering don't start statements with, this might be crazy but or I'm not really sure about this but. Because you're planting seeds of doubts in people’s heads before you even begin. You could have the most wonderful idea in the world, but if you're selling yourself short, no one else is going to believe it either.
Finally, leverage shared interest, shares and connection. If you know someone in common or if the person that you're meeting with also has, you know young children at home. Don't be afraid to bring that up. It builds rapport and a connection between the person that you're meeting and wanting to build a relationship.
If you keep these things in mind and you approach anyone with confidence and you believe in yourself, you'll be able to make outstanding first impression as a woman in business.
