- Individual: fights for client's IP rights & ownership
- Company: fights for business's IP rights & ownership
So, one of the first things I ask my clients is, am I your attorney or am I your company's attorney because my approach to almost everything will be different because if I am your attorney as an individual founder or employee of a company, I will be fighting for your rights and your ownership of everything. And, you know, I will maybe think about the company's rights as a secondary issue.
In contrast, if I am your company's attorney, then I will be protecting your company's rights and I will be thinking about the growth of your company as my primary interest and issue.
Therefore, it's really important for you to know the difference between your company's attorney and your attorney and the different perspectives and the different ways the attorney will work depending on who the attorney works for.
