- Be prepared to market yourself anytime
- Be respectful in every situation
- Have a short pitch prepared that you know inside out
- Always have business cards on-hand
For an entrepreneur, self-marketing happens every day, everywhere, anytime. So most importantly, you always want to be prepared for it. Number one, be ready to market yourself. Know your product inside out. Know what you’re looking for in that moment and know where your business is going.
Secondly, no matter who you meet, always be respectful with that person whether it’s on the phone, whether it’s online or in person. Always be respectful. Treat the others the way you want to be treated because it always comes back around somehow.
Third, have a nice short pitch about you and/or your business that you’ve got down the path, you know it inside out. It’s not just memorize, but you can change those words as you’re speaking to different people so that you can adapt to their understanding of what you’re saying.
And then finally, never leave home without your business cards because someone is going to say, “That’s interesting. How can I look into it? How can I follow up?” And you’re going to hand out your business card and that’s going to be your connection.
So ultimately, remember, no matter where you are, no matter what you’re doing, it’s an opportunity to self-market and always treat people respectfully because you never know who you’re talking to. That will lead to great self-marketing.
