- Helps maintain a connection to the industry
- Creates a potential for collaboration
- Aids in rekindling your passion
I think as a guy who mentors a lot of people. I really think there's reasons that you wanna do that. I mean you look for it as a win-win 'cause you're gonna learn what's going on. It keeps you connected. I mean I think the number 1 point is really keeps you connected to what's going on with the kids. They know abotu Tweeter, Facebook, everything that's happening. As a 44 year old guy with kids I'm not on the pulse, I don't have my finger on the pulse.
Also, a possible collaboration. So many times these kids are coming up with ideas but they need money. So, there's a lot of times where you invest in the business and they have the excitement and the passion that you use to have. So, the possible collaboration is fantastic.
The third, I think the most important thing for me as a mentor, it brings you back to that excitement you had when you started your career. I'm sorry but when you get to an older age, you don't have that passion the kid has. Kid coming out of school is hungry and they're ready. They're going after it and that to me is the most exciting thing is seeing kids starting their business and having the passion that you use to have. I mean they're hungry, they don't have a nice car. They're doing it just based on passion.
I think those are the main reasons why you should look to mentor people. I mean so many times I talk to successful people and they don't understand the reasons, the excitement I get with dealing with people starting their businesses and there's a huge benefit as a mentor.
