So, finding a web designer is challenging. I mean, when you first start, you don't know where to look, what to look for when you're doing it. So hopefully some of these tips can help you find the right one for you and your business.
The first thing that I'd like to do and I think would be very helpful is what are the sites that you like? 'Cause I think to me, it's important to find a site that you say, "Hey, that's the site I like so that's the site I -- I want it to look like this". So once you get a list of some of those sites, just start with those sites so you have a basis to say, "Hey, --" when you talk to the designer, "I like a site like this". But in addition, you can actually see who the designer is of that site. So if you do a Google search of the site and the designer or designer, you might be able to find their profile or their information on LinkedIn and other sites 'cause a lot of designers are very out there on their sites.
So, second thing that you want to do if you are looking for places to find designers is research web design showcase sites. There are numerous types of websites out there that a allow designers to submit their designs so people can vote on them, rate them, comment them. So it's a great place to see and evaluate talent and finding a designer that's perfect for your business.
The third. Good thing to do is you're looking for web designers, it is to get familiar with the terminology but you also can find designers by following web design blogs and magazines. Magazines like Smashing Magazine is a great magazine where designer sometimes submit articles, write articles and if you liked the article and you liked what they write, you might be able to just hire them on as a designer.
And the, you know, next important tip is don't be afraid of reaching out and contacting them. I mean, even if they design Google or they work for a big company, don't be afraid. Send them an e-mail, say, "Hey, this is the site I am trying to do. I really like your work". And, explain what you're trying to do. There's a chance they might not want to work with you but we should put it out there. So if they can't do it, they probably know other designers who might be able to help you out.
And then finally, be upfront about your budget 'cause no one likes to have their time wasted. So when you e-mail them, tell them, "This is what are my budget. I don't know if there's somebody who's going to work with it, but hopefully we can do something together". So be very upfront about it and most designers will really appreciate that. So hopefully by following these tips, you'll be able to find the perfect web designer for your business and not have to spend a lot of time guessing.
