$12.13
From:
Intellect 0

How free are the media in Europe? Freedom of the press and an independent media system are often taken for granted and all of the EU-member states today have implemented guarantees of press freedom in their constitutions and judicial systems. In Press Freedom and Pluralism in Europe, researchers from twelve countries examine media systems regarding conditions for independence and pluralism. They discuss a European approach to press freedom and diversity and include case studies of a broad spectrum of media systems including Bulgaria, the Baltics, Poland, Romania, Finland, France, Germany, Austria, Italy, Spain and the UK.The volume examines how other factors such as economic influences, historic, cultural and social conditions also have a substantial impact on media independence. With its topical subject matter and a need for new media policies facing a changing media world, Press Freedom and Pluralism in Europe is an essential resource for media studies and journalism scholars.
European Journalism Education
$12.13
$12.13
From:
Intellect 0
Document Overview:
This book maps recent developments in journalism education in Europe by providing an extensive review of the national education landscapes of 33 European counties. No less than 60 authors delve into the organizations that have provided journalism education in Europe over the years, including state and private universities, national unions of journalists, employers associations, private media companies and the church. They examine the content of this education from different parameters such as theory vs. practice, communication or journalism studies as opposed to a mixed system, and the impact of new media in the content of the curriculum.Terzis analyzes the way in which European journalism education describes 'media governance' patterns (the interrelationships between the market, the state and the civil society which affect the media) in every country, as well as at the regional and European levels. It uses a two-dimensional approach in order to show how the commercialization, concentration, convergence and globalization of the media have affected the journalism education landscapes in Europe both at an institutional as well as at an individual level.

Ciberperiodismo en la proximidad
$13.50
$13.50
From:
Librisite
Document Overview:

$10.80
$10.80
From:
Librisite
Document Overview:

From:
Independent Publishers Group 0
Document Overview:
Clamor Magazine was a movement publication that existed between 2000 and 2006, covering radical politics, culture, and activism. Clamor published 38 issues and featured over 1,000 different writers and artists. The mission statement was: "Clamor is a quarterly print magazine and online community of radical thought, art, and action. An iconoclast among its peers, Clamor is an unabashed celebration of self-determination, creativity, and shit-stirring. Clamor publishes content of, by, for, and with marginalized communities. From the kitchen table to shop floor, the barrio to the playground, the barbershop to the student center, it's old school meets new school in a battle for a better tomorrow. Clamor is a do-it-yourself guide to everyday revolution." This analysis is presented as a case study on how movement projects and organizations deal with vital but rarely discussed issues such as management, sustainability, ownership, structure, finance, decision making, power, diversity, and vision.
