This document also may appoint a health care representative to make health care decisions for you when you are unable to make your own health care decisions By law, every person has the personal right to decide whether to begin, continue or stop care or treatment that would keep them alive. Thus any capable person, usually eighteen years of age and above, can make a living will at any time. A living will is effective from the date it is executed until the individual dies or until the living will is revoked. If more than one living will has been executed, the last one to be executed will control how and what healthcare is administered.
