I am a retired educator, educational software designer and publisher, and data analyst.
My working career came to an abrupt end, when at the age of 68, I was laid off in a mass RIF, (Reduction in Force) in April, 2003.
Trained as a researcher in cognitive science, I had developed software (in 1980, long before the internet) focused on text and content analysis. Used by intelligence agencies, and attorneys.
Looking for things to do, I did research consulting for attorneys specializing in Employment Law. As a result, of what I learned from that experience, I became aware of the many ways that employers, out of either ignorance or deliberate action exploit and rip off their employees.
In 2005, I was able to pursue an individual action against by last employer, for unpaid overtime wages. After winning a substantial award, I have written an online e-book, titled "War in the Workplace -- Combating the Predatory Employer."
