About me
I began my career in 1960, in the studio at Doyle Done Bernbach Inc., perhaps the most fertile creative ground in the history of the advertising business. Within 6 months, I was promoted to Assistant Art Director, and before 3 years had gone by, I was made Senior AD. In 1973, I joined Scali McCabe Sloves, and created the award-winning print and television ads for Barney’s as well as creating the “Car for people who think,” campaign for Volvo. In July of 1976, I opened my own agency, Altschiller Reitzfeld Inc., where I served as Vice Chairmen/Chief Creative Officer for the next 17 years. In 1995, with Allan Beaver, we founded Beaver Reitzfeld, a creative consortium. I have 6 commercials on the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art and have won over 900 awards for creative excellence, as well as being nominated for both the Art Director’s and The Creative Hall of Fame. I’m also the past President of the One Club for Art & Copy, as well as continuing to teach advertising at my alma mater, the School of Visual Arts and serving on the creative review board for the Partnership for a Drug- Free America.
