Patent Class: Dynamic Magnetic Information Storage Or Retrieval (360/99.01)

Description
GENERAL STATEMENT OF THE CLASS SUBJECT MATTER This class is an integral part of Class 369, Dynamic InformationStorage or Retrieval, following subclass 18 and is thespecific class for apparatus and corresponding processes for thestorage and retrieval of information based on relative movementbetween a magnetic record carrier and a transducer. This class also includes apparatus and corresponding processesfor making copies or editing of records falling within the abovedefinition. A magnetic record carrier within the meaning of this classis an element which consists of a magnetizable material or is comprisedof a coating or impregnation of magnetizable material which is intendedfor the storage of more than a single bit of information.Storage elements which include discrete magnetic areas, inserts, spots, etc. eachintended for the storage of single bits of information, whetheror not relative motion is used in transducing that information, arenot included in the above definition. See elsewhere forthe use of such elements. (See References toOther Classes, below.) SUBCOMBINATIONS OF DYNAMIC MAGNETIC RECORDERS OR REPRODUCERS This class includes elements forming subcombinations specificto apparatus within the class definition such as record carriers, transducers, etc. Electrical circuits not specific to magnetic recording or reproducingwhich may constitute subcombinations of such apparatus are classifiedin the appropriate class for such circuits. Mechanisms forming subcombinations of apparatus within theclass definition are classified in the appropriate mechanical classproviding for such subject matter unless claimed in significantcombination with specific recorder structure.
