Description
A. This is the generic class for antennas for thetransmission of radio wave energy through the natural media (i.e., air, earth, water, etc.) forpoint-to-point communication or for the receptionof such transmitted radio wave energy.
B. In this class are apparatus and systems whichconstitute part of an antenna transmission or reception apparatusor system and which are limited to use in connection with the transmissionand reception of radio wave energy, e.g., electromagnetichorns and arrays.
C. Exclusions:
1. This class excludes noncommunication applications involvingradio waves, such as resiation by radio waves for therapeuticpurposes or for measuring and testing a physical parameter whereno communications or signaling is involved.
2. Also excluded from this class are systems, suchas detector and receiver systems, oscillation generatorsystems, modulator systems, amplifier systems, whichare used as component parts of radio wave energy transmission orreception systems but which are of more general utility.
3. This class also excludes communication by electromagneticwaves other than radio waves (e.g., bypartial rays, compressional waves, etc.). Communication restrictedto rays or visible light, heat, infrared, ultraviolet, X-rays, cathoderays, ions, gamma rays, and beta rays, aswell as inductive coupling are excluded from this class.
