Description
Means for transmitting to a distance messages, unlimited withrespect to the extent of information they are adapted to convey,and the transmission and facsimile reproduction of written, printed,or otherwise produced characters, marks, pictures, etc., unlimitedwith respect to form or outline, by the utilization of conductiveor inductive electrical current impulses or reversals, the elementsof the messages being selected or composed at will, according toa prearranged code, or the transmitter being actuated or controlledby a previously designed pattern. (1)Note. Electric signaling means that are limited with respectto the number, character, or subject matter of messages adapted tobe conveyed thereby or with respect to the selection of the elementsof a message or the possibility of composing the same thereby aredeemed to be electric signals, indicators, and alarms rather thanelectric telegraphs. Means for the conversion of sound waves intoconductive or inductive electrical impulses and reconversion into soundwaves for reproduction of sounds at a distance are classified astelephones.
