Official Apple iPhone Press Release on the introduction of the new mobile smart phone from Mac. Introduced in June to endless praise after endless speculation. Apple predicted 10 million sales of iphones within the first year. They've sold over 5 million to date, but the new 3g model is introduced at the WWDC worldwide developers conference on June 9th 2008, giving a new sales spurt to the existing sales numbers. The faster 3rd generation wireless phone is tied to AT&T service, which means that AT&T is likely to announce they've introduced 3G speeds or the faster new model iphone would be useless. The current EDGE network is too slow for most iPhone users and storage capacities are likely to double on the new model introduced in June, 2008, causing existing customers to quickly upgrade those EDGE phones. A two year contract will be required with AT&T but will likely see many new models hacked using "JailBreak" software designed by modders and software enthusiasts, which results in "bricking" of phones if they are plugged into iTunes, where the activation and automatic upgrades take place. ... more>>
