With an pending appointment on the Moon by Apollo, the Surveyor Project did not see the need for the Lunar Rover concept after the soft-landing robot lander program had proven to be so successful. Nevertheless, Bendex Corporation did, in fact, design a lunar rover to accommpany as the third leg of the Lunar Orbiter and Lunar Surveyor.
