Applephobes with an aversion to the iTunes universe have a lot of options for MP3 players these days, but few are as stylish as Samsung’s K3 series, with their lacquer-like metal casings and very sexy backlit, touch-sensitive controls. Even the staff at a chi-chi downtown home design boutique were impressed with my red YP-K3 player, with its vivid pop-art screen graphics and sleek looks.
It’s about the size of the old Nano, and comes in 2 and 4 GB sizes – though the larger player is restricted to a Model T-like black. Samsung’s software is easy enough to use after you’ve spent a little time familiarizing yourself with its playlist-building option, and the player has a nice, clear, even tone that might not appeal to metal-heads, but it’s doubtful they’re looking for something that would match their lipsticks or compact. ... more>>
