Issuance of a Swiss JAR-FCL PPL(A) VFR/IR SPA
(Conversion of a foreign licence)


Requirements for the issuance of a Swiss JAR-FCL PPL(A) VFR SPA issued on the basis of an

    -    ICAO-PPL(A) VFR SPA issued in a non-JAA-state
    -    ICAO-PPL(A) VFR SPA issued in a JAA-state in accordance with the national regulations be-
         fore mutual acceptance granted by JAA Central in that state

                  JAR FCL medical certificate class 2 issued by an authorised Swiss FOCA AME

                  Theoretical examination PPL(A) subjects “10/air law” and “40/human performance” in accor-
                  dance with JAR-FCL 1

                  Proof of the radiotelephony qualification entered in the foreign pilot’s licence

                  Minimum total flying hours experience: 100 hours

                  Skill test PPL(A) VFR with examiner on SP aeroplane in accordance with JAR-FCL 1 and
                  ‘FOCA Guide 318.12.096E’

                  Application for the issuance of a pilot’s licence/permit (FOCA Form.60.975)

                  Copies of all pages of the current and valid foreign pilot’s licence with entry of the required
                  class or type rating (pending licence is not accepted)

                  Copies of all pages of the foreign medical certificate

                  Copies of last 3 pages of the logbook

                  Copy of passport

Additional requirements to obtain a Swiss JAR FCL IR SPA issued on the basis of the foreign IR SPA

                  Copy of the IR entered in the current foreign pilot’s licence (pending licence is not accepted)

                  Pass all subjects of the theoretical IR examination in accordance with JAR-FCL 1

                  Minimum total flying hours experience as PIC: 100 hours

                  Skill test IR with examiner on SP aeroplane (might be combined with a skill test VFR CR/TR
                  SPA) in accordance with JAR-FCL1 and ‘FOCA Guide 318.12.096E’




Verification of the foreign pilot’s licences and medical certificates
By filling the application form, the applicant will authorize the issuing Civil Aviation Authorities of his foreign
licences and medical certificates to provide all relevant information for the corresponding application to the
Swiss Federal Office for Civil Aviation (FOCA)

Validity
In accordance with JAR FCL 1

Revalidation/Renewal conditions according JAR FCL 1
In accordance with JAR FCL 1.245
