									Management and Leadership Development
ILM Level 3 Award in Leadership & Management Skills
TRAINING SESSION OUTLINE
About ILM
The Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM) was created in a merger, in 2002, between the
National Examinations Board for Supervision and Management and the Institute of Supervisory
Management. These two organisations had, for many years, been providing similar high quality
supervisory and management qualifications to all sectors and it was a logical step to merge to
provide a single organisation awarding management qualifications at all levels.

Who should attend?
The ILM Level 3 Award in Leadership & Management Skills aims to give practising and
experienced team leaders the foundation for their formal development in this role. The programme
achieves this by assisting participants to gain the basic knowledge and skills required by a team
leader.

There are no formal entry requirements, but participants will:

 normally be practising team leaders with the opportunity to meet the assessment demands,
    and
 have a background that will enable them to benefit from the programme

Duration
The qualification is delivered over seven half-day workshops, held in the Edinburgh area. The
programme will include up to two hours of individual tutorial support and will involve up to four
hours of self-study and a work-based project. Three cohorts are run per academic year.

Award aim:
The Level 3 Award workshop modules include:
    Introduction to Leadership
    Leading a Team Effectively
 Solving Problems and Making Decisions

The Award will help you focus on your role as a team leader in areas such as dealing with
problems, leadership styles and behaviours, motivation and presenting a case and implementing
change.

Facilitators: The Edinburgh Higher Education Institutions have formed a partnership to deliver a
