                    Coordinator and Pastoral Worker Appointed

We are pleased to announce that Christine Secombe has been appointed Coordinator of
the Network on the basis of two days a week and Rev Alex Rodgers has been appointed
as the Network’s Pastoral Worker on the basis of one day a week. Welcome Christine and
Alex!

Christine is an active member of the Morialta congregation and is a member of the
Reference Group. The Coordinator is responsible for all management, communication
and financial matters associated with the Network and is the first point of contact for
enquiries. Christine may be contacted at her home office at 23A Devitt Ave, Payneham

Alex is a minister at Prospect Road Uniting Church (St John's) and will combine his
pastoral role with assisting in development of network projects and sub networks. Alex’s
telephone number is 8269 4127.

As part of the shared leadership model adopted by the Network’s Reference Group, Chris
Harkness organizes our gatherings; Dean Eland continues as a member of the Presbytery
Pastoral Relations and Placements Committee and will assist in developing and
resourcing the theme of the year, Developing Strong Directions for Ministry and Mission;
Bruce Ind is convening a review of the Network and will be contacting congregations
shortly for their comments to some questions; and Anne Butler, Sean Gilbert and Ivan
Miller assist with specific responsibilities.

Peter Russell, although not a member of the group, has developed our web site. Thank
you Peter.

                               News from the Churches

Placement Report
Currently we have seven congregations involved in issues related to placing ministers and
other staff. Modbury, Church of the Trinity, Brougham Place, and Newland, Victor
Harbor, are all currently seeking a minister. Clayton Wesley, Scots, Pilgrim and Morialta
are also planning to appoint staff or supply ministry during this year.

The Network is represented by the coordinator at the monthly meetings of the Presbytery
PRC and Placements committee.



2008 Public Seminars with Professor Bernard Brandon Scott
Bernard Brandon Scott is a charter member of the Jesus Seminar, which is a research
project of the Westar Institute, a research and educational institute dedicated to the
advancement of religious literacy. Through publications and research projects like the
Jesus Seminar, Westar has opened up a new kind of conversation about religion. This is
an honest, no-hold-barred exchange involving thousands of scholars, clergy and other
individuals who have critical questions about the past, present and future of religion.

Leadership for Life weekend
19-21 September 2008, Nunyara Conference Centre
Participants will join together in worship, small group time, workshops, listening to guest
speakers Rev Felicity Amery and Rev Denis Edwards, and will have the opportunity to
