                                                                                                                  As of 05/2011- In order to clear the way for the future Science Building site, and in order to provide
                                                                                                                  contractor staging/laydown for the Central Plant and Storm Drain/Sewer Upgrade projects, the District
                                                                                                                  hired a contractor to remove all of the T-Modular Classrooms. These were then relocated to Mesa
                                                                                                                  College and this work was completed the weekend of 9/18-9/19/2010. The Contractor also installed
                                                                                                                  fencing around the site and this will remain in place throughout the duration of the new Central Plant
                                                                                                                  and Science Bldg construction. In 02/2011, Parking Lot #2 was closed and fenced off, in addition to
                                                                                                                  Parking Lot #1, however ADA Parking, CACT/Incubator Parking, and a Pedestrian Walkway remains
                                                                                                                  in the area of Parking Lot #1. Vehicular access to the T Bldg lower-level manufacturing bays and

                                                                                                                  As of 05/2011- ***L Bldg Renovation Construction Completed in May 2009 and building occupied as
                                                                                                                  of August 2009*** Post-renovation, some problem areas were identified in the building, and since
                                                                                                                  11/2010 the Campus PM's office has been working with Campus Administration and Facilities to
                                                                                                                  schedule these repairs. The roof repairs were completed in 10/2010 and the lighting fixture repairs at
                                                                                                                  the lobby display boards were completed in 03/2011. As of 05/2011- District Facilities has ordered
                                                                                                                  the new clamps for the lobby display boards and they will install the new clamps once they have
                                                                                                                  arrived. A contractor completed the toilet repair work needed in both restrooms from 04/18/2011 to
                                                                                                                  04/22/2011. The HVAC repair work needed in the English Center is planned to begin once the Spring
                                                                                                                  2011 semester has ended (approx. 05/23/2011) and the campus Project Management team is
                                                                                                                  currently working with the English Center faculty to scheduled the best time for this work to take place.
                                                                                                                  Also, a preconstruction meeting with the contractor, architect, and campus representatives and
                                                                                                                  campus project management team is scheduled for 05/10/2011. As part of the underground piping
                                                                                                                  distribution work for the Central Plant Infrastructure Project, the contractor needs to route the new hot
                                                                                                                  water and chilled water lines through the L Bldg lower level "subway" corridor, then through the L Bldg
                                                                                                                  basement, where the lines can be connected to the building's boiler. This work began on 04/11/2011
                                                                                                                  and the Campus PM's office has coordinated this work with Campus Administration to have the least

                                                                                                                  As of 05/2011- ***P Bldg Renovation Construction completed in early January 2010 and classes were
                                                                                                                  held in building at the beginning of the Spring 2010*** Electrical Power Upgrade project began on
                                                                                                                  10/11/2010 and completed in late 01/2011. In order to connect all of the new switchgear and wires for
                                                                                                                  this electrical upgrade, a total building power outage took place on Saturday 01/22/2011 without

                                                                                                                  As of 05/2011- ***CTC/V Bldg construction completed in May 2010 and building is fully functional and
                                                                                                                  operating since Summer classes of 2010*** CTC Grand Opening Ceremony was held on Friday
                                                                                                                  9/24/10 at 10am at CTC building. On 12/21/2010 and 12/22/2010 the LED lighting on the west side of
                                                                                                                  the building facade was replaced by contractors. Installation of an additional roof drain began on
                                                                                                                  04/18/2011 and the area affected by this work was the 5th floor vestibule outside the Photography
                                                                                                                  gallery space. This work was completed on 04/20/2011 (note- this work took place during the District
                                                                                                                  Spring Break). The project's Inspector of Record is working with Campus Facilities and the Campus
                                                                                                                  Project Management team to coordinate and repair any warranty issues in the building, usually as
                                                                                                                  reported by the faculty and staff occupying the building. This work is ongoing as needed. The
                                                                                                                  Campus Police office move from the T Bldg to the CTC also took place during the District Spring
                                                                                                                  Break, and the move was completed on 04/19/2011 without incident. The campus Project
                                                                                                                  Management team is working with College Police and the District moving company to finalize all
                                                                                                                  remaining issues, such as removing moving boxes, mounting shelving, etc. related to the move. As a
                                                                                                                  side note, in 05/2011, the Career Technology Center project was awarded the 2011 award for a Best
                                                                                                                  Practice for Sustainable Design by the California Higher Education Sustainability Conference. This is
                                                                                                                  the third year in a row a SDCCD project has been honored by the conference, highlighting best
                                                                                                                  practices and innovations in sustainability in higher education campus operations, planning, design,
                                                                                                                  curriculum, and research within the California State University (CSU), California Community College

                                                                                                                     As of 05/2011- Construction is organized into 3 phases, work began in late 07/2010, and the project is
                                                                                                                     currently ongoing through 2011. DSA approved the drawings of the actual Central Plant structure in
                                                                                                                     04/2011. [CENTRAL PLANT YARD]: Demolition of the Central Plant yard, which is immediately east
                                                                                                                     of the L bldg, began in early 10/2010 and as of 05/2011, all of the underground utilities have been
                                                                                                                     relocated and the concrete footings were poured successfully the week of 04/25/2011. The contractor
                                                                                                                     is now preparing the building's wall formwork in preparation for the remaining concrete pours to
                                                                                                                     complete the building structure to grade. The contractor has also staged the 12kV switchgear,
                                                                                                                     SDG&E transformer, and 5-way enclosures on the previously poured concrete housekeeping pads
                                                                                                                     and they are preparing for the installation of the SDG&E equipment. SDG&E's portion of work will end
                                                                                                                     with a total campus power outage, which is tentatively scheduled for the week of 05/23/2011. The
                                                                                                                     Campus PM's office will coordinate with Campus Administration to provide temp power to the campus'
                                                                                                                     critical functions during this power outage. [L BLDG CORRIDOR]: As part of the underground piping

                                                                                                                     WATER PUMP]: The campus chilled water pump was shut down during the District Spring Break,
                                                                                                                     04/18/2011 to 04/22/2011, and this resulted in no A/C on campus during this period. [OTHER
                                                                                                                     NOTES]: The pedestrian steps that were at B Street near the old Modular Village have been removed
                                                                                                                     to make way for construction fencing, which also extends from the Central Plant Yard all the way east
                                                                                                                     to 16th Street. On 01/21/2011, Parking Lot #2 and Parking Lot #1 were fenced off and closed, though
                                                                                                                     ADA Parking, CACT/Incubator Parking, and a Pedestrian Walkway remain in the area of Parking Lot
                                                                                                                     #1. Also, vehicular access to the manufacturing bays at the lower level of the T Bldg will remain open
                                                                                                                     during construction. On 10/22 and 10/23 the stair case that runs from the North side of the L Bldg
                                    East of L Bldg, some work in                                                     down to the T Bldg Parking Lot area was closed to help divert pedestrian traffic away from the

                                                                                                                     As of 05/2011- Building design and construction drawings were approved by DSA on 10/07/10. All
                                                                                                                     land parcels at building site were purchased by the District and demolition of buildings on site is
                                                                                                                     complete. The historic house on site was relocated on 10/30/2010 without incident and District
                                                                                                                     contractor prepared foundations and infrastructure for the home's new location. Contractor installed
                                                                                                                     temporary fencing around entire jobsite block and began mobilization to the site in late 11/2010. In
                                                                                                                     01/2011- The contractor extended the construction fencing to include the C Street sidewalk and 15th
                                                                                                                     street sidewalk. As of 05/2011- The contractor is currently installing grade beams for the parking
                                                                                                                     structure, concrete pouring of the building's walls on the west side of the classroom building is
                                                                                                                     ongoing, and the elevator pit walls and below grade walls have been poured, as well. SWPPP
Math and Social Sciences Building                                                                                    measures have been installed onsite for the duration of the construction phase of work. The design

                                                                                                                     As of 05/2011- Design began in 07/2009 and Design has reached the 100% Design Development
                                                                                                                     Phase. The Project Architect and District Management met in 07/2010 to review the project. Design
                                                                                                                     requirements and scope have resulted in a large cost increase, and due to this increase, project
                                                                                                                     budget, logistics, and project schedule are still TBD and being coordinated among design team and
                                                                                                                     District Facilities Management. A cost proposal including the new scope and design requirements
                                                                                                                     has been approved by District Management, and they are now reviewing options to combine this
                                                                                                                     project with the M Bldg Remodel Project, however design is currently on hold pending the results of
                                                                                                                     the M Bldg Fault Study. As of 05/2011 the fault study is currently in progress but has been delayed

                                                                                                                     As of 05/2011- The demolition of the S Bldg, which was located in the footprint of the new buildings,
                                                                                                                     was completed in late 08/2010. Site clearing and removal of materials was also completed in
                                                                                                                     preparation for construction. Following demo, the contractor installed temporary fencing around site,
                                                                                                                     from the Saville Theater around the block east and to the B Street Bridge/Curran Plaza area. The
                                                                                                                     contractor also installed sound barriers at the C bldg as well as lockable gates with a District padlock,
                                                                                                                     which prevents access to and from the lower South C Bldg exterior corridor. All of these barriers will
                                                                                                                     remain in place throughout construction. DSA Final approval of drawings was received on
                                                                                                                     10/21/2010. As of 05/2011- underground mechanical, electrical, plumbing and onsite utility installation
                                                                                                                     work is ongoing. Installation of the covered pedestrian safety walkway on 16th Street, B Street, and C
                                                                                                                     Street began on 04/22/2011 and is now complete, as well. The tower crane foundation excavation
                                                                                                                     and reinforcing steel placement is planned to begin the week of 05/09/2011. The project Architects
                                                                                                                     and District FF&E PM are still finalizing FF&E plans with faculty and staff, and these meetings will
                                                                                                                     continue through Spring 2011. The preconstruction meeting for all contractors on this project was held
                                                                                                                     on 02/11/2011 and the groundbreaking ceremony for this project was held on 2/11/2011 on site, as

                                                                                                                         As of 05/2011- Design complete in Spring 2010 and construction drawings submitted to DSA for
                                                                                                                         review and approval in 05/2010. The drawings were reviewed and returned by DSA in late 10/2010.
                                                                                                                         Architects have addressed DSA comments and resubmitted drawings to DSA for final approval. Due
                                                                                                                         to some unforeseeable issues regarding the Fire/Life Safety Review and Deferred Approval Items,
                                                                                                                         DSA final approval has not been received as of 05/09/2011. The project architect is actively working
                                                                                                                         with the DSA Reviewer to resolve all remaining issues and final approval is now anticipated for mid-
                                                                                                                         late 05/2011. The project began sitework and site preparation in 09/2010, with the removal of the
                                                                                                                         modular classrooms, concrete curbs, retaining walls, and utilities. In 01/2011, Parking Lot #2 was
                                                                                                                         closed and fenced off, in addition to Parking Lot #1, however ADA Parking, CACT/Incubator Parking,
                                                                                                                         and a Pedestrian Walkway remain in the area of Parking Lot #1. Vehicular access to the T Bldg lower-
                                                                                                                         level manufacturing bays and Facilities Maintenance areas in the "canyon" will remain open during
                                                                                                                         construction, which should last until approx. early/mid-2013. Interior design planning meetings with
                                                                                                                         Campus and Faculty were held in 11/2010 and the faculty selected their carpet, tile, and casework
                                                                                                                         finishes. The FF&E process with District Purchasing, District FF&E Project Manager, and Campus
                                                                                                      DSA                Representatives is scheduled to begin in Summer 2011. As of 05/2011, The Project team is currently

                                                                                                                         As of 05/2011- [STORM DRAIN/SEWER "SDS"]: Designs for the 15th and 16th Street Sewer
                                                                                                                         Upgrade and 15th Street Storm Drain Relocation were reviewed and conditionally approved by the
                                                                                                                         City of SD the week of 9/06/2010. In mid- 9/2010 the project scope was bid-out and contracts were
                                                                                                                         awarded. Contractor mobilized to the campus the week of 12/06/2010. As of 05/2011- the work in
                                                                                                                         16th Street is complete and the newly installed sewer and storm drain lines are live. The contractor is
                                                                                                                         now awaiting the City of SD Sewer Department's final inspection of the work. In the 15th Street
                                                                                                                         Corridor area, the contractor has completed connecting the storm drain to the previously installed
                                                                                                                         piping and the work in this area is now complete. The contractor has also finished tying in the storm
                                                                                                                         drain laterals into the 15th Street easement pipe. The contractor installed 120 ft. of protective casing
                                                                                                                         for the new sewer line as well. A site meeting was held on 05/02/2011 with the SDS Contractor and
                                                                                                                         Science Bldg Contractor and it was agreed upon by all to fill the old storm drain line with slurry where
                                                                                                                         it is located outside of the project boundary, to remove the line entirely where it is located under the
                                                                                                                         proposed footprint of the new Science Bldg, and to crush and compact the old line below the new
                                                                                                                         Science Bldg site improvements. A punch-walk with the City Engineer of Record, the Contractor, and
                                                                                                                         the Campus Project Management team was held the week of 05/02/2011 and the items needing
                                                                                                                         resolution are being addressed. Once these remaining items are resolved, the City Engineer of
                                                                                                                         Record will conduct the final inspection. [DATA/IT]: Design for the project was approved by the City
                                                                                                                         in 08/2010 and project scope was bid out and contract awarded. Preconstruction meeting with
                                                                                                                         contractor and campus was held on 11/05/2010 and work began on 11/15/10. As of 05/2011- the
                                                                                                                         contractor has completed their work, they have de-mobilized from the campus, and the project
                                                                                                                         management team is currently in the process of completing the project closeout process. [OTHER]:
                                                                                                                         Faculty Parking Lot #1 and Parking Lot #2 is impacted by this work and were closed in mid-01/2011,
                                                                                                                         however ADA Parking, CACT/Incubator Parking and a Pedestrian Walkway are being installed in the
                                                                            SDS:         SDS:                            area of Parking Lot #1. In 02/2011- The street lighting along 16th Street and the parking lot lights in

                                                                                                                         As of 05/2011- The design team has met with the users to verify final space programming before
                                                                                                                         proceeding to the conceptual design phase. A potential phasing plan has also been submitted by the
                                                                                                                         Design Build team for the relocation and renovation of the Radio Station and Journalism Dept. This
                                                                                                                         plan has been approved by the District, and the Design Build team has begun meeting with the C
                                                                                                                         Building design committee to develop a feasible construction phasing plan. Final programming draft
                                                                                                                         documents and requested program changes have been submitted to the District for review, and a
                                                                                                                         review meeting was held on 03/29/2011. The requested changes include the revision of an 80 seat
                                                                                                                         classroom into a multi-media lab, as well as the justification for 2-40 seat classrooms that are currently
                                      Central Campus, South side of B                                                    included in the building space program. Once these changes have been approved, the project will

                                                                                                                         As of 05/2011- The Programming Design team, which helps to plan the initial space requirements and
                                                                                                                         adjacencies for the project, met with the faculty and staff in early 2010, then were on hold during
                                                                                                                         Summer 2010 break, and resumed again in 09/2010. In 11/2010 the Campus decided to include 2
                                                                                                                         additional programs in this project which resulted in the space requests from the building's
                                                                                                                         departments/programs exceeding the total building space available. In 01/2011 the Programming
                                                                                                                         Design team met with the Campus VPs and Deans to review the square footage overages. The
                                                                                                                         Campus VPs and Deans then reviewed the programming data with their departments, faculty, and
                                                                                                                         staff and made reductions to allow the square footage to fit into the building. As of 05/2011- The
                                                                                                                         Campus PM's office is still working with the leadership of the T Bldg programs/departments to whittle
                                                                                                                         down the remaining overage of square footage, which is about 2,300 SF gross. The Campus PM's
                                                                                                                         office and campus representatives are confident this final reduction can be made successfully, and
                                                                                                                         once all utilization & square footage issues are resolved, the Design Build RFP for this project (for a
                                                                                                                         project Architect to complete the design and Contractor team) is expected to be advertised in 08/2011
                                                                                                                         and design efforts will then begin with the project design team in 09/2011. Design efforts & meetings
                                                                                                                         with the faculty and campus will continue through Fall 2011, with construction planned to begin in

                                                                                                                           As of 05/2011- Programming Design efforts resumed in 06/2010 and space planning and
                                                                                                                           programming meetings with faculty and administration will continue until late 2011. Early design
                                                                                                                           concepts were submitted to the State for funding approval in 09/2010. The State has informed the
                                                                                                                           District that the CDC project is ineligible for State Funding. Due to this determination, the project will
                                                                                                                           be funded through Proposition S. The project is scheduled to continue with planning and design, with
                                                                                                                           an anticipated RFP solicitation for design build firms (for a Project Architect and Contractor) later in
                                                                                                                           2011. A meeting was held on 03/22/2011 to discuss new potential locations for the CDC on the City
                                                                                                                           College campus, and it was requested that the RFP for Design Build firms include a requirement to

                                                                                                                           As of 05/2011- The programming and conceptual design phase of the project began in 11/2010 with a
                                                                                                                           kick-off meeting with the Campus held on 11/16/2010. Preliminary meetings with DSA have
                                                                                                                           introduced the possibility of a total building seismic upgrade and the design team is in the process of
                                                                                                                           reviewing the project and possibly combining it with the D Bldg Remodel in order to avoid a total
                                                                                                                           seismic upgrade. As of 04/2011 and Per District Management's request, a fault study is being done
                                                                                                                           by a geotechnical engineer to determine what action will be taken. As of 05/2011, this fault study is
                                                                                                                           currently ongoing and has been delayed some due to City of SD traffic control permit issues. It is now
                                                                                                                           anticipated that he fault study will be completed in late 05/2011. Design and planning meetings for
                                                                                                                           this project will not resume until the fault study is complete and District Management has reviewed it's
                                                                                                                           findings. Please note, renovation construction on the M Bldg cannot begin until Science Bldg

                                                                                                                           As of 05/2011- Programming Design meetings with Admin and Faculty began in 06/2010 and are
                                                                                                                           expected to continue through 2011. As with the T bldg project, these initial meetings are to plan for the
                                                                                                                           space requirements and adjacency needs for this project. In 11/2010 the Campus decided to include
                                                                                                                           various Student Services programs in this project, and these programs will now be relocated from the
                                                                                                                           L Bldg into the renovated A Bldg. The Programming Design team conducted interviews and office
                                                                                                                           tours with the new programs, and taking into account all of the program's space requests, the
                                                                                                                           requested square footage exceeded the total space available in the existing A Bldg. In 01/2011 the
                                                                                                                           Programming Design team met with the Campus VPs and Deans to review the square footage
                                                                                                                           overages, and the Deans and VPs then went back to their programs and departments to identify
                                                                                                                           potential reductions. The reductions made by the faculty brought the requested square footage back
                                                                                                                           into the allowable space range. The Design Build RFP for this project (for a Project Architect to
                                                                                                                           complete the design and Contractor team) is expected to be advertised in 08/2011 and design efforts
                                                                                                                           will then begin with the Project Architect team in 09/2011. Design efforts & meetings with the faculty
