Meeting called to order at 20.05

Minutes of last meeting: Agreed

Matters Arising:
We discussed setting up a Watford lions website. Bill Cochrane offered to be the web master with
Lion Cheryl as back up. Bill to finalise costs from the web hosting company 1&1 and setup a sample

2 new members inducted into lions

Presidents Report:

1. Lions David and Mark plus their guests Hazel, Cheryl, Alan and Bill all attended Tring’s Charter
   dinner on 6th Feb 2010.
2. The district convention is on Saturday 6th march , Lions David and Mark to attend.
3. Lions David, Mark and Alan are to attend the st. Albans Charter Dinner.
4. A reminder that CRB checks will be carried out at our next meeting, please bring along the
   required Id.
5. News letters from Lions HQ were handed out.

Balloons have been ordered for our Charter dinner but there is a 90 day lead time.


1   Thanks to lions Brian, Frances and Mark for attending the senior citizens party
2   We have had a request for lions to deliver some food to a disabled Gentleman in Borehamwood.
    Lions Frances and Brian volunteered to do this.
3   The next fish & chip supper is on the 27th feb. Lion Brian has ordered the mini bus. The
    entertainment has been organised.
4   The London Bridge walk in aid of kidney research are looking for course marshals available on
    Sunday 13th June. As this is the day after our carnival it was felt that no one would be able to
    attend this.
5   The Abbots Langley fish & Chip supper will be held on Saturday 13th March.


1   We still have some money to collect from the Champagne bottles. We have made a profit of
    £470 with approximately another £300 to be collected.
2   We’ve ordered 18 Easter eggs, poster to be provided to Cheryl.
3   The Kings Langley carnival is on the 19th June. We will take the ball tombola.
4   Lion Frances said that Nascot school are holding their May fair on 22nd May 2010. They are
    charging £10 per stall. Lion Frances will book the stall and Lion Mark will take the Ball Tombola.

Horse ride:

1   Lion Cheryl to edit the entry form for this year.
2   Presentation for Horse ride and Fireworks will be 23rd March 2010. Lion Mark to confirm with
    Bowls club to cater for 40 people. The chairman of Watford borough council will be doing the
3   Invitations to go out, Lions Frances and Brian to send.

Carnival/Abbots Langley Fireworks:

         Ginders will be sponsoring the carnival again this year.
         The procession will start at 12 noon and arrive in the main arena by 1pm.
         The Carnival Queen Competition will be run in ‘My Abbots’.
         We should raise the prices for stalls
         The next meeting will be on the 16th of March at 2pm.
         The swan are a new entrant into the float competition


The Carnival details will be printed in Watford observer next week.
Senior citizens party photos will go into the Watford observer.


Lion Mike’s feeling ok at the moment.
Lion John’s had an irregular heart beat but it’s now been rectified.
Lion David to have a knee replacement.


    Watford Charter:-
     Closing date for numbers at hotel is March 31st.
     Frances to sort out 2 canisters of gas for balloons.
     Invitations have gone out to dignitaries.
     Specimen tickets and menus were distributed to Lions
     David has spoken to national pen limited and has a quote of £79.31 for 50 pens or £151.57
       for 100, turn around time 10 working days.


Message in a bottle:

Lion Frances to go to Marias church to deliver more bottles.

Cassiobury Fireworks:

Nothing to report.


£25 for mini bus course for Cheryl to drive the bus. Lions will fund this course.
Various clubs contributed to Mount Vernon hospital cancer unit.
Passing of Mike Roe 3rd president of Watford lions
David Draper can’t come to charter as his wife is now wheelchair bound.

   Blind club are going through a rough time. Looking for a donation.
