                           Administrative Experience in Higher Education

Associate Vice Provost, Academic Affairs, Office of Faculty Affairs

             University-wide initiatives:
            Faculty mentoring initiative including a small grants program for colleges, faculty
             focus groups, new faculty satisfaction and mentoring survey, faculty mentoring
             workshops, and reports on the program(s) to the provost
            Potential outside activity, employment, conflict of interest and commitment questions
             updated and electronic reporting system developed and implemented
            Faculty teaching qualifications process, as required the Southern Association of
             Colleges and Schools, under modification for completion through PeopleSoft

             Primary Duties:
            Chief Ethics Officer - serves as final approval for all faculty, who have potential
             conflicts of interest or commitment
            Promotion and Tenure - facilitates the faculty promotion and tenure (P&T) process
             including reviewing & approving P&T college & department guidelines on behalf of
             the provost; holding P&T workshops for faculty, faculty committee chairs,
             department chairs, school directors, and deans; revising P&T regulations, setting up
             the annual dates and deadlines, and assisting the university P&T committee
            Reviews for SACS – completes faculty-related compliance reviews to meet SACS
             mandates including the certification of faculty teaching qualifications for all
             instructors of record and compliance with the university’s 75% guideline requiring at
             least 75% of the student credit hours in each unit are taught by full-time faculty

          Manages the university-level coordination of sabbaticals and professional
            development leaves
          Supervises various awards programs, such as the Teaching Incentive Program,
            Research Incentive Award program, and Trustee Chairs, including workshops related
            to the application processes
          Reviews and approves all unit-level Annual Evaluation Standards & Procedures on
            behalf of the provost
          Oversees, develops, and facilitates faculty and faculty administrator performance
            evaluations including the dean’s 5-year reviews, student perception of faculty
            instruction, full-time in- and non-unit faculty annual evaluations, sustained
            performance evaluations, adjunct evaluations, evaluation of Distinguished Professors,
            and reviews of Trustee Chairs
          Recommends faculty for joint, secondary joint, and courtesy appointments to the
            provost
          Coordinates attendance of UCF new chairs and deans at statewide workshops
          Develops and presents dean’s, director’s, and chair’s workshops
          Creates, presents and presides over workshops for new chairs
          Develops and implements faculty-related university policies, regulations, and
            procedures
          Oversees the development of the conflict of interest and commitment procedures
          Oversees the faculty outside activity and conflict of interest & conflict of
            commitment, including the development of policies, regulations, processes, and
            reporting
          Supervises the creation of a handbook for new deans, directors, chairs, and other
            administrators
          Serves on the Board of Trustees collective bargaining team
          Serves as the Academic Affairs liaison to the Faculty Senate Personnel Committee
          Oversees the coordination of student perception of faculty instruction with the units
          Supervises public records requests that come to the office
          Administers the faculty and Administrative & Professional Sick Leave Pool
          Chairs the University Tuition Waiver Committee for all employees
