        Joseph daCosta/Dacoster1 was born in Boston, Massachusetts in about 1769.2
        He was married on 8 June 1806 in the Anglican Church, West End, St. Croix, to
Sarah [Sally] Augusta Smith, daughter of William Smith. 3
        In 1815, he was listed as a Mariner, trading from Boston to St. Croix for 22 years,
and resident on the island from about 1811, and he had no Burgher Certificate. 4
        In 1815, they were resident at 41 King’s Street, Frederiksted, he was a member of
the West End Militia Company, and living with them was a free mulatto boy, aged 12,
named James Smith.5
        In 1824, they are listed as resident at 41 King’s Street, Frederiksted, with their
children and enslaved people.6
        On 8 April 1836, he was buried in the Frederiksted Anglican Churchyard, aged, of
consumption, a merchant by profession. 7

        1. Katherine [Kathy]Tallman DeCosta was born in 28 February 1807 and was
baptized on 12 April 1807 in the Christiansted Anglican Church. 8
        In 1815, she was listed as born on St. Croix and living with her parents and
siblings at 41 King’s Street, Frederiksted. 9
        In 1824, she was resident with parents and siblings at 41 King’s Street,
Frederiksted and known as Kitty. 10

       2. Joseph DaCosta was born in 1808.11
       In 1815, he was listed as born on St. Croix and living with his parents and siblings
at 41 King’s Street, Frederiksted. 12

        3. Mary Elizabeth DaCosta was born on 23 February 1811 and was baptized on
15 March 1813 in the Christiansted Anglican Church at the West End.13
        In 1815, she was listed as born on St. Croix and living with her parents and
siblings at 41 King’s Street, Frederiksted. 14
        In 1824, she was resident with parents and siblings at 41 King’s Street,
Frederiksted and known as Elizabeth. 15
        In October 1841, she was living with her siblings at 41/42 King’s Street,
Frederiksted, owned by herself and her siblings, unmarried, and employed as a Teacher.16
        On 18 November 1841, she was married in the Frederiksted Anglican Church to
Ebenezar Jones, who was born in Ireland17 in about 1806/18180719 and was baptized in
the Anglican Church. 20
        In November 1841, he was employed as a Planter.21
        In October 1846, she was living with her husband and children at estate Mannings
Bay, Prince’s Quarter. 22
        Not in the 1850 St. Croix census.

      4. Ellen Smith DaCosta was born on 26 July 1812 and was baptized on 15
March 1813 in the Christiansted Anglican Church at the West End.23

       In 1815, she was living with her parents and siblings at 41 King’s Street,
Frederiksted, and known as Helen and born on St. Croix. 24
       In 1824, she was resident with parents and siblings at 41 King’s Street,
Frederiksted.. 25

       5. Julia DaCosta was born in about 1815 and was baptized on 10 December
1815 in the Christiansted Anglican Church. 26
       In 1824, she was resident with parents and siblings at 41 King’s Street,
Frederiksted. 27
       By October 1841, she was married to Edward S. Forster, who was born in
England in about 1815 and baptized in the Anglican Church. 28
       In October 1841, they were living at 41/42 King’s Street, Frederiksted, owned by
her and her siblings, he employed as an Architect and a Corporal in the Prince’s Life
Guard.29
       Not in the 1846 & 1850 St. Croix censuses.

       6. William Smith DaCosta was born on 28 August 1817 and was baptized on
14 September 1817 in the Christiansted Anglican Church. 30
       In 1824, she was resident with parents and siblings at 41 King’s Street,
Frederiksted. 31
       In October 1841, he was living with his siblings at 41/42 King’s Street,
Frederiksted, owned by himself and his siblings, unmarried, unoccupied.32
       On 28 July 1842, he died of consumption, aged 21 years, and was buried by the
Frederiksted Anglican Priest.33

        7. Ellen DaCosta was born in 1818. 34

        8. Sydney Ann DaCosta was born in 1824. 35
        She was married to Mr. Asson, from Philadelphia, who was a Major in the
military.36

        Susan T. DaCosta was born on St. Croix in about 1807 and was baptized on 20
August 180837 in the Anglican Church.38
        She had a relationship between about 1837-1842 with Henry McFarlane, who
was born on St. Croix in about 1811 and was baptized on 20 November 1812 in the
Anglican Church. 39
        In October, 1841, they were living with their child at 62 Hospital Street,
Frederiksted, unmarried, he as a Planter, but at the time not employed and a Private in the
Artillery, and she was a Housekeeper. 40
        In 1850, she was living at her own property 32 Hospital Street, Frederiksted, with
her partner Henry McFarlane and their children. 41

       Ann F. de Costa stood as a sponsor at the baptism in the Christiansted Anglican
Church, of Ann Decosta Jones, the daughter of Ebenezer Jones and his wife, Mary
Elizabeth DaCosta, on 1 August 1844. 42

       K. F. DaCosta stood as a sponsor at the baptism in the Frederiksted Anglican
Church, of Isabel, the daughter of Ebenezer Jones and his wife, Mary Elizabeth DaCosta
on 25 March 1847. 43

       1. Jacob Mendes da Costa was born on 7 January 1833 on St. Thomas.45 He
was an author of five medical texts.46
