university degree. See CEGEP Academic Advisors for details.
6 With a minimum of 70% in all pre-req classes. Marianopolis looks for a minimum of 80% in all pre-reqs. The other CEGEPs use 85% as a cutoff for
the Honours levels. However, some application years are more competitive than others, so the higher your marks are, the better your chances.

JOHN ABBOTT PATHWAYS TO This one or two semester program is designed for students who want to apply to
SCIENCE pre-university Natural Science but lack one of the sec V pre-requisites. To be
eligible, you must have at least 70% in technical or scientific math at sec IV and
environmental at sec IV. PLEASE NOTE: This is not designed for students who
have taken the sec V environmental math, physics and chemistry courses and
failed one or more. In that case, please see an academic advisor @ JA, as you
may have to take them at Cartier first.
JOHN ABBOTT PATHWAYS TO A This one or two semester program is for students who want to apply to a
CAREER PROGRAM Technology program but whose marks are low OR who are missing prerequisites.
It is also perfect for students who do not yet know which program they want to
study, as it gives a “sample” of classes from different programs, and a Career
Explorations course. PLEASE NOTE: This is not a way into Police Tech. SOME
of these programs admit with sec IV cultural math: check the pre-reqs of your
                                    target program.
JOHN ABBOTT PATHWAYS TO SOCIAL This one-semester program is for students who want to prepare for the two year
SCIENCES Social Science program but they have marginal HS marks (i.e. low 60s), and have
passed a minimum of sec IV cultural math. They will also get help developing
effective study habits and a Career Explorations course, within a reduced course
                                    load.
JOHN ABBOTT PATHWAYS TO CALL This is the Creative Arts Literature and Languages entry program. Same pre-
requisites as for PATHWAYS TO SOCIAL above.
CEGEP Program Pre-Requisites for fall 2010 5

CEGEP applications: For Fall 2010 all CEGEP applications will be online, and responses can
be checked online as well.
 For John Abbott [www.johnabbott.qc.ca], Vanier [www.vaniercollege.qc.ca], Gerald Godin
[www.cgodin.qc.ca] and all other French CEGEPs in the Montreal area, use the SRAM online application
at http://sram.omnivox.ca. That site is open for applications by early January. You can apply to ONE
SRAM CEGEP on your first round application (before March 1st). If you are refused, choose a second
program at the same CEGEP for Round 2 (mid-April).
 For Dawson [www.dawsoncollege.qc.ca], Marianopolis [www.marianopolis.edu] and Champlain
[www.champlaincollege.qc.ca], the COMMON application system can be completed through each
CEGEP‟s website. You make a first choice of program and CEGEP, and can make a second choice of
program AT THE SAME CEGEP (during these high-population years). Make your second choice easier to
get into (lower pre-requisites or more spaces).
 Private Colleges (ex. LaSalle & O‟Sullivan) have their own application procedures, so you can apply to
them also/ separately. See their websites for details: www.clasalle.com and www.osullivan.edu.
 IMPORTANT: Your application will not be complete without both your final secondary IV and term 2
           secondary V marks.
o SRAM can access both online, but you must mail both12 to the COMMON CEGEPs! Photocopy
both documents and mail them to your first choice CEGEP, quoting your student file number
                    from your online application!
o Ditto for your birth certificate [if born in Quebec] or your Canadian Citizenship documents [if
                    born outside Quebec]
o Failure to do these BEFORE MARCH 1ST could result in losing a place in your program!

Know Yourself/ Know your Choices:
It‟s a good idea to do a few online tests and compare the results. Together they will give you a much better
picture of the kind of careers that „fit‟ you.
