1. WE ARE TO GIVE TO THE POOR (MT.

We should appreciate that and take advantage of it.

                          F. IS IT RIGHT OR WRONG
A. WE ARE TO SAVE MONEY TO SIGN A PLEDGE CARD
FOR THE FUTURE SAYING HOW MUCH WE
   (RETIREMENT PROV. INTEND TO GIVE?
21:20; 13:11).  There are several passages of scripture that seem to
indicate that the practice of making a pledge is
                                                    scriptural and right (Acts 11:29; 2 Cor. 9:7; 2 Cor. 8:10-
                                                    12; 2 Cor. 9:5).
B. WE ARE ALLOWED TO G. WHO HAS AUTHORITY TO
EARN INTEREST (MT. SPEND CHURCH MONEY?
25:27).  The apostles began the first Church treasury (Acts
4:35). But soon, the Elders became responsible for
overseeing the funds (Acts 11:29-30; 1 Pet. 5:2).

C. WHAT THE BIBLE SAYS
                                      H. IS THE ONLY WAY TO
   ABOUT DEBT.
                                         GIVE THROUGH THE

BACK (PS. 37:21; 2 KINGS 4:1-7).  Christians are commanded to give to the Lord and the
ministries of the church (1 Cor. 16:2). But there are
2. WHEN WE BORROW, WE BECOME A many ways to give. When the Samaritan found the
SERVANT TO THE LENDER (PROV. 22:7). injured man on the road to Jerico, he didn’t write a
check to the local church; he reached into his own
pocket and paid for the man’s expenses (Lk. 10).
3. WE SHOULD NOT CHARGE INTEREST ON A When we are told to be hospitable, we are not told to
LOAN (EX. 22:25). share just through the church treasury, but to offer
what we have (Heb. 13:2; Rom. 12:13). The Scriptures
allow us to give in many ways.
