Programme Outline
George and his friends live in Happy Street. And they are “happy that they do.”
They play, sing and dance and enjoy their time together. George is very happy but his
Dad and Mum would like him to do some housework and not just play. “Do housework! I
don’t know how to.” When George is just saying that, the Wizard of Happy Street
appears right in front of him. The Wizard offers to teach George how to do housework.
Not only that. If George does all the housework for him, the Wizard will teach him magic.
George begs to do that. So his Dad and Mum give him permission to work for the
Wizard. What will happy next? Will George learn to do housework? Will the Wizard
teach George how to say a spell and do magic?

Communicative Functions
1. Introduce oneself
2. Respond to and give simple instructions
3. Give a simple description of oneself and others in terms of name, habits and
   abilities

Pre-viewing Activities
1. Introduce George and the name of the street where he lives: Happy Street.
2. George and his friends sing these two lines happily, “We live in Happy Street.
We’re happy that we do.” Write out the lines on the board to capture the pupils’
     attention.
3. For warm-up, pupils can tell each other the name of the street or district they live in
using the structure introduced in the programme, “I live in …….”
4. In the programme, the children tell each other what they play. Write out the
sentences on the board and revise or introduce the sentences to show the class:
      (a) “I play ball games.”

                                             1
      (b) “I play with cars.”
      (c) “I play with toys.”
      (d) “I ride a bicycle.”

5. For motivation, invite pupils to tell each other what they do in their spare time.

While-viewing Activities
Part 1 Please sing together
While watching the programme, encourage the children to join in the singing.
(COPYMASTER 1)
Part 2 Please say it together
Tell the class that they will hear some spells in the programme such as “Broom! Broom!
Give me power. Clean, clean, clean!” Please ask them to follow and read the spells out
aloud together while they are watching the programme. It is important that they do so
because George needs their help to make the magic work, for example, a pair of arms and
legs will grow out of the broom to help George clean the floor. (COPYMASTER 2)
