This year, we are sending out a special request to our members for their assistance in helping us fill our many volunteer roles. Most require only a small contribution of time, and you’re sure to leave feeling good about having helped out. Regardless of your skill or mobility level, we’re sure to have something up your alley! We’re kindly asking all members to check off at least one volunteer duty from the list below, which you would be willing to assist us with this season. Our goal is to match people with their areas of interest, so take a look at the list and find a way you’d like to contribute. FUNDRAISING MS WALK Stuffing Pledge Kits (flexible – late January; March) Brochure & Poster Delivery (flexible – late January, early February) Working pre-WALK Pledge Intake Nights (April 22 & 23, 2009) Assisting with WALK T-shirt organization & prize distribution WALK Set-Up (Lakeland College Gymnasium – Friday April 24, 4-9pm) WALK Day (Various Duties) CARNATION CAMPAIGN Helping to gather & coordinate volunteers (April & early May) Selling Carnations (May 7, 8 and/or 9, 2009) Assisting with Carnation preparation – May 6, 2009 Helping to deliver Carnations (May 7, 8 and/or 9, 2009) GARAGE SALE Helping to organize & price items (several evenings in early June) Helping at the sale (runs 2 days – Friday & Saturday) in early June MS GAME NIGHTS (WITH LLOYDMINSTER BOBCATS) Willing to spend one or two evenings at the rink assisting with various promotions (ie. selling 50/50 tickets, manning silent auction tables, etc.) – dates TBA, but will be in the Fall & Winter MISCELLANEOUS FUNDRAISING ACTIVITIES Volunteering for United Way activities – ie. BBQs, Coin Rolling, etc. Helping at various BBQs – ie. WalMart, Summer Picnic PROGRAMS / CLIENT SERVICES COLONIAL DAYS PARADE FLOAT Sitting on a committee to help plan and prepare the float for July 2009 Helping to decorate the parade float (evenings, early July) PROGRAM PREP & ASSISTANCE Providing Baking for various Chapter Programs (to serve as snacks) Sitting on a phoning committee to contact/remind members about upcoming events, such as the Christmas Party, Summer Picnic, etc. Assisting clients who require physical assistance (ie. pushing wheelchairs) at various MS events Assisting with the Games, Crafts & Conversation Program (periodically, 10:15 am – 1:00 pm) AWARENESS-RAISING Willing to speak publicly about your MS experience GENERAL OFFICE Helping prepare office mailings – ie. stuffing Newsletter envelopes, etc.
