            IN GEORGIA!
There are some motorcycle magazines that won’t list an event if that promoter doesn’t advertise with them. Shame on
them. Not only do we list every event we know about in our national wrap, we thought it might be a good idea to highlight a few
of the rallies and events in GEORGIA during the month of September. Why? Because it’s the right thing to do for our readers
and we know you appreciate it. For more Georgia events, see page 8 in the National. Enjoy this last full month of wonderful motorcycle riding weather and Ride Safe!

HOMESTEAD RIDE Ask anyone who has ridden in this ride and they’ll tell you that meeting these boys and girls and the joy they get from seeing
their excitement is worth more than the $25.00 donation they contribute. That’s why you come back year after year, and it’s why we’ve been able to
contribute close to $100,000 over the years to the Georgia Sheriff’s Youth Homes. If there’s a group leaving from your area of the state we encourage
you to join in the ride. If there isn’t a group leaving from your area, we invite you to join us at The Coleman House Inn Hwy
1 in Swainsboro at 11:30 am. (Trailer parking available) The ride to the Herrington Homestead is approximately 20 miles. For more

Hill, Georgia. We will be turning Left onto
Ford Avenue. In case you are wondering, yes,
it is Ford - as in Henry Ford. In the mid 1920’s
Mr. Ford purchased a huge portion of the land
that is now Richmond Hill. He made this his
southern home and laid the groundwork that
has developed the area into the up and coming
family community that it is today. Although the
actual plantation and home of Mr. Ford is now
a private, gated community, the home and many
of the original buildings remain. Standing in the
home’s parlor in front of the massive, elegant
fire place one can only imagine the guests and
conversations that graced the antebellum home.

Traveling from Hwy 17 down Hwy 144, ride
about 1 mile. Just before the railroad tracks, take
Cedar Street to the left, just before Impressions
Dry Cleaners. You will immediately notice an
iron sign across the roadway noting the entrance
to J.F. Gregory Park. The park consists of 335
acres of a pre-civil war rice plantation, which
fed local Confederate soldiers during the War
Between the States. In December 1864, Union
soldiers marched along this southern bank of
the Ogeechee River to attack and capture Fort
McAllister. The rice fields were commandeered
to feed the Union armies as well. The Park is
named after Henry Ford’s plantation foreman,
                                              J. F Gregory who reclaimed the deteriorating
property and cultivated the land to prosperity
