                        Short story and poetry competition
                                       Conditions of entry

     o   Word/line limit: stories to 3000 words, poems to 60 lines (includes blank lines)
     o   Theme: open
     o   Closing date: 30 June 2010
     o   Prizes:            Short story:     1st prize: $200         2nd Prize: $100
     o                      Poetry:          1 prize: $200           2nd Prize: $100
     o   10 stories and up to 15 poems, including the winning and commended entries will be
         published in Issue 8 of page seventeen.
     o   Authors whose work is included will receive a complimentary copy of Issue 8.
     o   Entries will be accepted by post only.
     o   Entry fee: $5 per entry or $12 for 3 entries. Cheque/money order payable to Page
         Seventeen. Entry fee must accompany the entry and entry form.
     o   Author’s name or identifying information must not appear on the manuscript.
     o   Entries must be printed on white A4 paper, 1.5 or double-spaced, in a serif font (ie
         Times New Roman), 12 pt.
     o   Entries must be the writer’s original, unpublished work and not have won a prize in any
         other competition.
     o   Copyright remains with author.
     o   Shortlisted entries will be announced by August 31 and will appear on our website.
     o   Winners will be announced and prizes awarded at the launch of Issue 8 on Saturday
         November 13, 2010. Results will be published on our website: Other entrants will be notified of the results if they
         provide an SSAE or if their work is selected for inclusion.
     o   The competition judges are as follows: Short Story section – Amanda le Bas de
         Plumetot; Poetry section – Graham Nunn. Judges’ decision is final and no
         correspondence will be entered into.
     o   Entries will not be returned. Please keep a copy of your work.
     o   Entries that do not conform to these guidelines will be disqualified from the
         competition and may be considered as general submissions to page seventeen Issue 8.
