18 – 22       Unit
                      Why do we have articles in magazines
                      Students will be given a magazine to explore and discuss the different types of articles that
                       are included in the magazines.
                      Students will discuss the different aspects of the following article topics.

                           What’s Hot and What’s Not (Fashion)
                           Gadget corner
                           Advice columns
                                 o    How to deal with bullying,
                                 o Best pets,
                                 o Personal health tips

                      Students will brainstorm, discuss and decide what type of articles they would like to include

                      Students examine the different type of writing genres for each type of magazine article.
                      Students examine how to layout an article and matching pictures with the article.
                      Students start writing draft copies of their article
(Week 4)      Literacy

                      Students finish writing draft article for the magazine and start typing article in Microsoft
                       word
                      Students are typing article up in Microsoft word and editing their work.

                     Examine the articles for the assignment magazine
                     Discuss what types of advertising / companies would be used in the magazine.
                     Research and print advertising posters to place in the magazine
