“TUTORS IN THE CLASSROOM”
The Superior-Greenstone District School Board is seeking post-
secondary college or university students to work as tutors within
its elementary schools during the 2010-11 school year.
Preference will be given to Teacher Education candidates and
those candidates with a strong English and Mathematics
Superior-Greenstone District School Board services the
communities of Nipigon, Red Rock, Dorion, Geraldton,
Beardmore,Nakina, Longlac, Terrace Bay, Schreiber, Marathon
Duties: To support the work of classroom/subject teachers by
serving as tutors in the classroom and assisting with special
projects and upgrading materials for teachers.
Rate of Pay: Hourly rate is $10.25 (plus 4% vacation pay)
Hours of Work: Approximately 135 hours, on a flexible schedule
to be determined by the school principal and tutor. Hours will be
concentrated throughout the months of May and June and must
be completed by June 29, 2011. Some hours will be worked before
and after school.
Applications should include a resume outlining course of study in
which the applicant is enrolled. Applicants must also submit the
names of three (3) professional references, one of whom must be
a current or most recent immediate supervisor, along with
telephone numbers and a written authorization from the applicant
permitting the Board to contact these references. Information from
such persons will be gathered in accordance with the Municipal
Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act. Applicants
should clearly indicate the school/community preferred.
