					                    Statistical output from FACE Litter Production Analyses

         The pages that follow contain statistical analyses from the FACE litter data. Each
sampling location (“species”) was analyzed with an independent repeated measures ANOVA
using PROC GLIMMIX in SAS V9.2. Prior to running the ANOVA, data were analyzed with
the Box-Cox procedure to determine the best transformation to meet normality and homogeneity
of variance assumptions of ANOVA. For the 4 shrub species, the ¼ - root transformation was
best; for the open interspace data, a log transformation was best. For each sampling location, the
last table (“Tests of Effect Slices for CollDate*Treat – Sliced By CollDate”) gives tests
for significant differences among the 3 treatments on each litter collection date. Graphs at the
end of output for each sampling location provide diagnostic information on how well the data (as
transformed) meet the assumptions of ANOVA and may or may not contain statistical outliers.
