ROTATING CHARTS
A Definition ...
Rotating Charts is a brainstorming method that involves a group of participants brainstorming on a number of topics related to one central idea. Participants move around a room adding ideas to a number of different topic categories. Two of the advantages of using this method of decision-making are that it produces a lot of ideas on a number of subtopics very quickly and it gets all participants involved in the decision-making process.
Step By Step ...
Rotating Charts 1. . After you have decided what
topic you wish to explore, create a list of sub-topics that need to be brainstormed. 2. Write each sub-topic on a sheet of flip chart paper and hang the sheets around the room. 3. Divide the group participants into smaller groups (ideally three to five per group). 4. Have each group stand by a sheet of the flip chart paper. Give them five to ten minutes to list as many ideas as possible that relate to their sub-topic. 5. When time has expired, ask the groups to rotate clockwise to the next flip chart. Give these groups three to five minutes to add ideas to the chart. 6. Repeat these steps for each chart until each group has had an opportunity to add ideas to each chart posted around the room. 7. Review the ideas with the group participants. 8. Follow up this activity by using the “Sticker Voting” method to prioritize the sub-topics list.
