Imagery Tracing
In a collaborative group of 3 to 4 students, you will trace the light (love, light, spring, morning and renewal) and dark (hate, anger, death, dark, blood) imagery found in the first three acts of Romeo and Juliet (or another play). As you read, look for passages that relate to light and dark imagery. When you find a passage that fits your image, copy it down, being sure to cite the act, scene, and line number of the quote you chose. Citation of your quote will look like this: II, iv, 102. An act is denoted with an upper case Roman numeral: ex. I, II, III A scene is denoted with a lower case Roman numeral: ex. I, ii, iii, iv, v, vi, etc. A line number is denoted simply by its number. The actual image or word does not have to be in the line, simply a reference to an image (as in the examples below). Underline the key word or words that relate to your chosen image. An example follows:
