                      MICHELLE RICHARDSON ATHLETIC AWARD

The “Michelle Richardson Award”, created in recognition of Michelle Richardson’s
1984 Silver Olympic Medal and to motivate other young athletes to participate in sports
and perform at their personal best, is an award given to the top athletes (male/ female) of
the ANS senior class who meet criteria, which include:

             1.   Participation AASCA Tournaments
             2.   Local Tournaments
             3.   Attendance to practices/games (excellent, good)
             4.   Individual recognitions: (MVP, All star games, top scorer)
             5.   National Team by year
             6.   Sportsmanship (excellent, good)
             7.   Satisfying Academic GPA (minimum 2.0)




   1. AASCA TOURNAMENTS
      5 points each

   2. LOCAL TOURNAMENTS (9 – 12 grades)
      1 point per tournament

   3. ATTENDANCE TO PRACTICES/GAMES (GLOBAL*) throughout 4 years.
      Excellent 5 points
      Good           4 points

     Individual events authorized by ANS. Participation: 1 point each:
      1st place, 3 points
      2nd place, 2 points
      3rd place, 1 point

     1st Division Team – 2 points (per year)
     2ND Division Team – 1 point (per year)

6. SPORTMANSHIP (throughout 4 years)
  “EXCELLENT”  5 points
  “GOOD” 4 pints

      GPA 4.5 – 5.0     5 points
      GPA 4.0 – 4.5     4 points
      GPA 3.5 – 4.0     3 points
      GPA 3.0 – 3.5     2 points
      GPA 2.0 – 3.0     1 point

Michelle Richardson is a role model to ANS students/athletes. She was born in
Nicaragua, later moved to the U.S. and became a member of the USA National Swim
Team. Michelle is a member of the Nicaraguan Sport Hall of fame and an honorary
member of the American Nicaraguan School Sport Hall of Fame. She has also been
recognized by the Union of Nicaraguan Journalists as the Nicaraguan Female Athlete of
the XX Century.
