              COURSE OVERVIEW

•    Six-week module conducted at K-12 rural
     schools
     Simsboro (560 students)
     Weston (500 students)

•    Focus on data interpretation and analysis,
     reading comprehension as it applies to
     science reasoning

•    Student-centered activities using inquiry
     based demonstrations and technology to
     develop the necessary critical-thinking
     skills supplemented with ACTive Prep®3
     software

  • 2.7 GPA or higher
  • Completed Algebra I and have completed or be enrolled in
    Geometry or Algebra II
  • Junior or Senior Standing
  • Able to attend all sessions

  • Payment of test registration fees for students with financial hardships

               • Experimental group’s ACT score exceeded
                 parish, and state averages

               • Student’s indicated an increased confidence in
                 their test taking abilities (not just standardized
                 tests)

               • We need to use grade level, GPA, etc. as
                 covariates to yield a more conclusive analysis
