If-Then Statements
Conditional – p q Converse (conv) – exchange hyp & concl Inverse (inv) – negate hyp & concl of conditional
Contrapositive (contra) – negate hyp & negate concl & exchange
Examples – Write in if-then form:
1.
Perpendicular lines intersect in one point
2.
Two points determine a line.
3.
A dog has a tail.
Hint!!! Find the verb – it’s the “divider”
Example – Write the conv, inv & contra of the conditional
Cond – If 2 lines are perpendicular they intersect in one point. Conv Inv
Contra
Example – give conv, inv & contra AND T/F on each. If False, give a counterexample.
