Installation of AutoLab TF software for a new installation
The AutoLab TF v 1.0.8sr1 installation software consists of one CD.
The software is written using Boland C and uses Boland Database Engine v5.2.
The software can be installed under Windows 98 SE, Windows ME, Windows 2000, Windows XP and Windows
Vista 32 bit and 64bit version. .
Note that Windows on the PC to use to install the AutoLab TF should be a clean installation of Windows, and it is
recommended that the PC is first updated with all Microsoft recommended updates and latest service sr1ease, using
the Windows Update function for updating software via the internet.
Installing the software will automatically create necessary start-up shortcuts, menus and desktop shortcuts for the
programs to run. Note that the install program will only install the programs necessary for the model of system being
run from the PC that the software is being installed on. For example if installing the software on a PC running
AutoLab SPS, it will only install the SPS software, it will not install the TF dispenser software.
New installation of AutoLab TF software consists of 4 steps:
a) Select correct system model and start Installation of application programs
b) Copy the X/Y/Z axis calibration data onto the PC for the system being installed
c) Configuration of software for the hardware being used
d) Configuration of application programs
The software can also be loaded onto any PC for the purposes of demonstrating the software to customers, carrying
out translations, or for learning purposes. All programs can be run in demo mode (with the exception of the control
program for AutoLab TF models with conveyor, AutoLabTFCCtl.exe), and will emulate the operation of the software
as if a physical dispenser or solution maker is connected to the PC. When installing the software for demonstration
purposes, option 2 above does not need to be carried out. Once the programs have been installed, is necessary to
enable to demo mode in the dispenser and SPS programs, before actually running the programs in demo mode.
How to do this can be found in the section on program configuration.
A copy of the software is supplied with every system on CD. A copy of the latest version of AutoLab TF software
available can also be downloaded from Datacolor intranet from the following link:
http://intranet.datacolor.com/products/autolabTFswmain.html

After selecting the model of system to install the software for, you need to select a few more options:
Demo Database:
If this option is enabled, a demo database will be installed on the system. It is recommended to select this
option, not only when installing the software on a PC for demo purposes, but also when installing on a PC for an
actual new system installation. This will allow you to demonstrate an overview of how the software is structured and
how it works using the demo data provided, before actually loading the customer database. The demo database can
eventually be deleted as the customer‟s real data is being loaded.
Batch Generator:
This option will install a special program used for demonstrating AutoLab TF dispensers at exhibitions, as well
as installing the regular AutoLab TF programs. For more details on this program, on what the program does, and
how to run it, refer to document on the intranet at: http://intranet.datacolor.com/products/autolabTFswmain.html
BDE Setup:
This will install the database engine required for the software for the dbf data file. It is necessary to enable this
whenever installing the software on a PC for the first time. If this option is not selected, the software will not run.

Upgrading AutoLab software to 1.0.8sr1 from a previous version
To upgrade an existing system to the latest version of software, 1.0.8sr1, follow the below procedure:
First ensure there is no Install(DCI) directory existing in the directory C:\ from a previous installation. Then copy
the install programs to C drive.
Run the AutoLabSetup.exe program. After selecting and running the program, the following screen will appear:
The model of system the PC being upgraded is running has to be first selected
Make sure that “Demo data” and “BDE Setup” options are disabled
Click on Upgrade
This will upgrade all programs to the latest version, and will not overwrite the current customer database.
AutoLab TF software is now compatible with Windows Vista 32 bit and 64 bit operation system. (Previous versions
were not). The database engine used in the software versions before v1.0.5sr1 was Boland Database Engine
v5.0.1, which is not compatible with Windows Vista 64 bit version. Now in TF software v 1.0.5sr1 and above, the
Boland Database Engine has been updated to v5.2 to solve this problem.
On existing systems, when doing an upgrade to 1.0.5 or above software, even if running XP operating system, the
option “BDE Setup” needs to be enabled on software installation screen (and is enabled as default) before carrying
out the update and clicking on the “Upgrade” button. This will ensure that the database engine is updated to latest
version 5.2. The new version database engine installation screen will appear after TF software installation has been
completed. Then follow the instruction to install new database engine.
Once upgraded, please check all the parameter and configuration settings as explained below.

Copying of X-Y-Z axis movement calibration data
This procedure is only required when installing software onto a new PC on a new installation. This is not
required when upgrading from a previous version of software, or when installing a new system where the
PC was already supplied with the system, with the software already pre-installed.
The X-Y-Z coordinates of all the solution bottles and dye pot trays and movement of the XYZ motors are all
pre-calibrated for each machine prior to the system shipping. The X-Y-Z calibration data is then shipped with each
system (on the software CD).
When a new system is being installed, where the PC has not been supplied with the system, after installing the
AutoLab TF software it is necessary to copy over the calibration data to ensure the correct calibration data for that
system is used, and avoid having to re-calibrate the X-Y-Z positioning.
Install program will check if there is an ini file in the folder “ini file” in install CD. If there is the ini file, the
button “Copy INI” in install program will be enabled. Before writing ini file to the system, the program will
check the serial number in the ini file. If the serial number in the new ini file is different to the number in
original ini file, the program will give a warning message to engineers.
To copy the calibration data, follow the below procedure after the software has been installed:
I. AutoLab TF systems without conveyor (TF-40, 40P, 80, 80P, 120, 120P, 160, 160P):
i. Calibration data file name: AutoLabTFCtrl.ini
ii. Click the button “Copy INI”, the file in install CD will be copied into the directory: C:\AutoLabTF\Control, and
overwrite the existing file.
II. AutoLab TF systems with conveyor (TF-88, 88P, 128, 128P, 168, 168P):
i. Calibration data file name: AutoLabTFCCtrl.ini
ii. Click the button “Copy INI”, the file in install CD will be copied into the directory: C:\AutoLabTFC\Control,
and overwrite the existing file.
N.B. If manually copying the calibration ini file from CD, you must ensure that the attributes for the file are set to
read/write after copying from the CD to hard disk. To do this, run Windows Explorer, go into the directory on the hard
disk where you copied the file, right click on the file, and select Properties. Ensure that “Read-only” attribute is not
ticked.

Configuration and parameter settings for AutoLab TF software
Once the software has been installed, and the required language selected, there are a number of
parameter and configuration settings that need to be defined and configured
Configuring AutoLab TF Dispense Control program
Dispense control Setup
(AutoLabTFCtrl.exe and AutoLabTFCCtrl.exe programs)
Click on the Setup button , a dialogue will appear asking for a password. Either the “customer-level”
password or “engineer-level” password can be used to access this option. If the “customer-level” password is used,
certain settings accessible only to engineers within this option will be disabled.
Basic Settings:
Leave the path settings as defined
Check if the scale setting is correct. A position and B position are for TF 80, 120 and 160 where there are 2
dispense scales. For TF 40, 88, 128, 168, and all TF-P systems there is only 1 scale
User Password (“customer level” password). The default user password is empty. This is normally set to DCI,
but if the customer does not want to use a password to enter protected options in the dispense control program
then the password can be removed by deleting the current password from the password input box. Alternatively
a different customer password to DCI can be set.
Power User Password (“Customer Supervisor Level” password). The default user password is “DC”. This
password will only appear and is only changeable under Power User or Engineer log in. Power user is
authorized to control all normal user functions and additionally has access to use the “Bottle position adjust”
function and “Cylinder speed calibration” function.

1. MISC:
Allow re-dispense if the first component of a recipe failed
Enabling this option will allow the system to re-dispense a recipe if the first component of a recipe
fails. It this situation occurs and the option is enabled, the software will alarm and prompt the
operator to change the dyepot with a new dyepot, and start the dispensing again for that recipe. If
this option is disabled, the software will continue dispensing the remaining recipes in that tray,
without warning the operator of the error, and then give a report at the end of completing the
dispense showing the recipe incorrectly dispensed.
Skip dispense of remaining products in a recipe if one failed
Enabling this option, the system will skip dispensing the remaining products in a recipe, if a single
dispense component is over or under dispensed. Disabling this option will continue to dispense the
remaining products in the recipe
Pause on dispense fail
If this option is enabled, if the system fails on the dispense of a product, it will pause the dispense,
and immediately give warning to the operator of the dispense error. The tolerance of dispense
failure can be defined, and also the time period the warning will be displayed on the screen, before
the system will continue dispensing the next products. If this option is disabled, then the system will
not pause when error dispense, and just report it on the dispensed recipe printout at the end of the
dispensing.
X Axis Use Slow Speed
If this option is enabled, the X axis movement will run at a slower rate than normal. This option
should be left disabled unless specifically requested to enable it
Dispense Paste then Water for Saving Time (TF-P system only)
When this parameter is enabled, the system will dispense water immediately after
completing paste dispensing. Default setting is function enabled.
Once all settings have been made, press the Saver button to store any changes

Configuring AutoLab TF Dispense Control - Engineer Settings (cont..)
Normally, for running the software at customer site, all the settings should be left as per the default setting proposed.
The only settings that may need checking are the RS232 setting.
RS232 Setting:
Local: Must be selected
COM Port: This is the PC COM Port that the interface to the system is connected to.
Baud rate: Must always be set to 57600
Timeout (ms): Must always be set to 300
Mettler scale weighing Process adapter setting
This setting should be set to Fine drop, unless specifically instructed to change it to Medium drop.
This option allows the software to automatically set Mettler scales to fine or medium drop weighing setting, which
normally when dispensing liquids should be sent to fine. Only in extreme circumstances might the scale need to be
set to medium drop, where due to very heavy external vibrations the scale will not stabilise during dispensing, and
setting the scale to medium drop allows the scale to stabilise. However, setting the scale to medium drop for
dispensing can cause inaccurate weighing. More correctly, the source of the vibration should be found and
eliminated, rather than setting the scale to medium drop.
Demo mode available
If you want to run the program in demo mode (without system connected), tick the option “Demo Mode Available”,
and then restart the program. This will then allow you to select a button to run the program in Demo mode
Other weighing settings
Use drip tray when moving between dye pots
Enabling this option the drip tray will be moved back under the injector when the system moves the injector from
dyepot to dyepot within a dyepot tray. If you disable this option, the drip tray will only be used when moving the
injector from bottle to dyepot and from dyepot tray to dyepot tray. The option is only for TF. Recommended to enable
this option
Ignore unstable 0.01g floating scale reading
If the dispense scale is unstable then the software can be set to ignore a 0.01g fluctuation on the weight reading
from the scale. It is recommended however to always keep this option disabled. If the scale is unstable, the cause of
the instability, such as wind or vibration, should be investigated and eliminated. This option should only be used
when instructed to do so.

Other weighing settings (cont..)
Enable multi shots function
Enable this function can make the system keep dispensing up to a maximum 8 shots, until it achieves the
target weight. Although TF system has multi-shots function implemented now, it will still typically achieve
the target weight within 2 shots most of time. This new function can help maintain the accuracy when the
injectors have been used for a long period of time, where typically it might sometimes then take more
than 2 shots to achieve the target weight. It is recommended to always leave this option enabled.
However, if a customer require faster speed, but is not so concerned about accuracy to 0.02g, then the
multi-shots option can be disabled.
S/W Emulation of sensors
This option allows the system to emulate a physical sensor on the system, in case one of the various position
sensors breaks. The software can be set up to ignore the input from a sensor as a temporary measure, to make the
system work again until a replacement sensor can be installed. The default settings for this option should not be
changed unless instructed to do so.
Paste Setup (TF-P system only)
Including Paste Device
If the system is TF-P model, the parameter “Including paste device” has to be enabled to allow the paste
mechanism to be used
Paste Dispense Tolerance
There are 2 alternative settings for paste dispensing accuracy tolerance. One is “Paste accuracy as
tolerance”, where the tolerance is a percentage of the paste target weight. The other one is “Define
paste accuracy X g”, where users can define an absolute weight as the tolerance for paste dispensing,
independent of the target weight of paste to dispense, e.g. 1.0g.
The default setting is using “Paste accuracy in tolerance”.

Tools settings
From the main screen, select the option Tools . The system will ask for a password. Either the
“customer-level” password or “engineer-level” password can be used to access this option.
The following screen will then appear:
Specific weigh calibrate This option is used to check the calibrations of the solutions in each bottle.
Normally it is not necessary to calibrate the injectors; this is done automatically
by the software. However it is necessary on a new installation to calibrate the
water and chemicals that are dispensed by valve volumetrically or
gravimetrically. This is done in the Auxiliary setup option.
Auxiliaries setup This option allows calibration of water and chemicals, as well as
Enabling/disabling of auto refill to the refill containers for water and chemicals,
as well as testing of the dispensing and refill functions of the chemicals and
water. On a new installation it is important to make sure that refill is enabled and
that the chemicals and water are calibrated.

Printer setup This option allows selection of the printer to use for printing dispensed recipe
printouts, as well as defining how to print dispensed recipes (always, only on
error dispense, or never)
Agitation setup The time interval and direction for agitation when connected to PC is configured
Here. When system is not connected to PC, the system will continue to agitate,
but will be controlled by the PLC instead of the software. Note that after turning
off the dispenser program, the PLC controlled agitation will not restart until 3
minutes after the program has been stopped.
Paste Setup (TF-P system only) This option allows cleaning of the paste pipes and testing of the paste
dispensing functions, as well as calibration of pastes. On a new installation it is
important to make sure that the pastes being used are calibrated.
Cylinder calibrate (Power User) This option allows checking of all air cylinders to check the moving speed, as
well as adjusting the cylinder speed manually to the correct running speed.
Only engineer login password can activate this function.

If for example you have one dyepot tray type, which is for Ahiba 150/300cc dyepots holding 6 dyepots, then you
should enable dyepot tray type 1, with the number of dyepots being 6 dyepots.
If for example you have two dyepot tray types, one for Ahiba 150/300 holding 6 dyepots, the other for Rapid
dyepots holding 6 dyepots, then you should still only enable dyepot tray type 1, since both trays conform to the
tray type 1, i.e. with 6 dyepots.
If for example you have two dyepot tray types, one for Ahiba 150/300 holding 6 dyepots, the other for holding 2
large beakers, then you should enable dyepot tray type 1 and 3.
If for example you have one dyepot tray type that holds 2 large beakers, then you need to enable type 3 with
number of dyepots being 2, and disable all other types.

Chemical Setting:
This option is for setting various parameters for dispensing of chemicals and water, if set to volumetric dispense. For
TF and TFC system, users can define the valve dispensing order by selecting “Last” or “First”. If set to gravimetric
dispense and set to “First”, it will dispense chemicals before the dyes. If set to “Last”, it will dispense dyes first then
chemicals
Auto change to gravimetric if < g
If the chemicals and/or water are set to volumetric dispense (this is done by defining the dispense method then
defining a solution in Database in DP program (valve-volumetric, Valve-gravimetric), then the system can be set so
that if the amount to dispense is smaller than a defined amount, the system will automatically dispense the product
gravimetrically instead of volumetrically. The reason for doing this is that volumetric dispense through a dispense
valve is accurate for large quantities, such as 5 or 10 grams, but when dispensing small quantities such as below 1
or 2 grams, it can be less accurate. If a particular chemical needs to be dispensed very accurately even at low
amounts, then it is recommended that this option is enabled, and the value under which the system will be
dispensed gravimetrically instead of volumetrically set at around 2 or 1 grams.
If a valve is set to dispense gravimetrically, this option will not come into effect since it will always dispense
gravimetrically.
Enable timeout
If a chemical or water valve has not been dispensed for a long period of time, there is a possibility that air bubbles
may have formed inside the dispense tubes, especially if the water is highly aerated or there is constant temperature
changes in the lab. If this situation occurs, then the next volumetric dispense from that valve will be slightly
inaccurate. This option allows to set the system so that if a valve that is set to volumetric dispense has not been
used for a defined period of time, the system will automatically dispense the next time gravimetrically, ensuring the
dispense is accurate and that the air bubbles that may have formed in the tube are removed. The next dispense
from that valve will then be made volumetrically again, unless a time period greater than that defined has elapsed
again. This option is especially useful if there is large temperature changes in the lab overnight and in the morning
air bubbles are always present in the tubes. Enable the option and sent the time period to 8 hours.

Click on the button “Password” to open the screen as below:
This option allows setting of different passwords for the different menu option in the DP program. These
passwords are different passwords to the “customer-level” and “engineer-level” passwords that are used to
access the setup and parameter options.
By default all password protection for the menus are disabled (no passwords defined).
The system can be set up with three different levels, each level having a different password. Then for each option in
the DP program, an access level can be defined.

For example, you may have three different levels, system operator, lab supervisor and lab manager, and each level
is allocated a password, for example level 1 operator is given password DC1, level 2 supervisor DC2, level 3
manager, DC3. Then each option can be allocated for access to a particular level only, where the sr1evant
password will be requested to be able to access that option. Level 0 allocation means all users can access without
the need to input a password, level 1 means a password will be requested, and level 1 2 and 3 can gain access,
level 2 allocation means only level 2 and 3 passwords can access, and level 3 allocation means only level 3
password can access.
To disable this function, ensure no passwords are defined or set all options to level 0.

Recipe Import setup
Import recipes from DCIMatch
The AutoLab TF DP program has the capability of importing recipes from DCIMatch. To configure the program to
import recipes from DCIMatch, you need to do the following:
First set the import path in Parameters, Database Paths, ensuring that the path setting in “Recipe Import Path” is the
same as the location of the DCIMatch export location, and the file name set to “fm_sa5.rcp”.
In AutoLabTF DP program, click on the “Recipe”, selecting the “Import”, and then enter the “customer-level” or
“engineer-level” password. There are a number of different settings in this option on the way to import recipes.
Please refer to document “Configuring Datamatch/DCIMatch and AutoLab/AutoLab for transferal of recipes” for
details on the different configurations for the import program, which can be downloaded from Datacolor intranet at
http://intranet.datacolor.com/products/autolabTFsuppswman.html
After all the settings have been completed, click “Save Setting” and “Cancel” to close the form, the DP program will
start to import recipes.

Paste Setting:
This option is for setting various parameters for dispensing of pastes.
Enable timeout
If a paste valve has not been dispensed for a long period of time, there is a possibility that air bubbles may have
formed inside the dispense tubes, especially if there are continual temperature changes in the lab, or the paste has
become slightly hardened or unusable. If this situation occurs, then the next paste dispense from that valve may be
slightly inaccurate. This option allows to set the system, where if a paste has not been used for a defined period of
time, the system will automatically refresh the paste, ensuring that any air bubbles that may have formed in the tube
are removed, that the paste dispense is fresh and that the dispense is accurate. This option is especially useful if
there is large temperature changes in the lab overnight and in the morning Enable the option and sent the time
period to 4 hours.
Dispensing Order
This option is for setting the paste dispensing order. Dispense paste before the color solutions, or dispense paste
after the color solutions.

Recipe Settings
In the recipe Add/modify option, there is a button “Settings”, which allows configuration of the default
settings for input of recipes.
Sample weight This is the default sample weight for the software to propose when adding a recipe
Liquor Ratio This is the default liquor ratio for the software to propose when adding a recipe
Total Volume This is the default total volume for the software to propose when adding a recipe
Total Vol calc method This is the way the Total volume should be calculated when inputting a recipe
Solution group This is to define the solution group that this PC is currently using. If you require to
swap to another solution group, select it here.
Target dispense wt If the same dye exists with different solution concentrations, the system will choose the
most suitable solution strength to use, using this parameter. For example, there are 3
bottles with the same dye solution but the concentrations are ten times different of each
other. Setting this parameter to 2 grams and we need the dye solution with the highest
concentration 0.25g, the middle one 2.5g and the other one 25g. Compare these three
bottles. If the tolerance is 0.02g, the acceptable inaccuracy of 0.25g one is 8% and the
others are 0.8% and 0.08% in sequence. So the system will choose the middle one.
Although the acceptable inaccuracy of the dye solution with the lowest concentration is the
smallest, but the consumption is the largest. So we can arrange the acceptable inaccuracy
and the consumption of dye solution by this parameter.

Default:
Default Machine Code: Machine number of the dispenser the SPS is linked to.
Default Amount to make: This is the default capacity of solution bottle.
Default process code: This is the default process code the system will propose when defining a new
solution. The process code to use can be changed to another at the time of
defining the solution
Prepare:
Hot water Temperature: The temperature of hot water for this SPS system.
Cold Water Temperature: The temperature of cold water.
Water Dispense Tolerance: This is the tolerance for dispensing of water. Should be set to 0.10g
Min. Empty Bottle Weight: Minimum empty solution bottle weight (with stirrer bar)
Max. Empty Bottle Weight: Minimum empty solution bottle weight (with stirrer bar)
Add Dye Tolerance (+): This determines the max amount of raw dye that can be added above the
target weight. E.g. making 900cc of 1% solution, target is 9g, if tolerance set to
5%, then max dye can add is 9.45g (which will make 945cc of solution)

SPS Parameters (cont…)
Add Dye – Tolerance (-): This determines the max amount of raw dye that is acceptable below the target
weight. E.g. making 900cc of 1% solution, target is 9g, if (-) tolerance set to
10%, then min dye can add is 8.10g, which will make 810cc of solution.
Manual add Chem. Tolerance: This is the tolerance for adding chemical manually when making a solution, e.g.
tolerance 5%, target weight 10g, will allow addition of between 9.5 and 10.5g
Min. allowed amount of dye: This is the minimum amount of raw dye that is allowed to be added for making a
solution. If the amount required to make a solution is lower than this amount,
and there is not a stronger solution strength available from which to make a
dilution then the system will not allow to make that solution. This parameter is
designed to ensure very weak solutions are not made by adding raw dye, which
is inaccurate. 1g of raw dye using scale of 0.01g accuracy means inaccuracy of
10%. This value should be set to 1g
Press ACK between steps: When this option is set to Yes, whenever the system asks to put bottle on the
scale, or after manually adding dye or chemical, the software will show a
message asking the operator to confirm the action has been completed. When
set to No, the system will automatically move to the next step without the need
for the operator to confirm the action has been completed. Suggest setting to
No for most customers.
Allow change of amt. to make: If set top Yes, the operator can change to target amount of solution to make
each time a solution is made. If set to No, the system will always make the
default amount of solution, without asking the operator how much they want to
make up.
Enable sound function: When set to Yes, the system will give audible sound indication when the
operator is manually adding raw dyestuff, indicating when the amount added is
below tolerance, within tolerance and above tolerance.

Mix:
Delta Tolerance after mix: The acceptable tolerance of evaporation during mix set to 1.00g
Confirm mix result: When this option is set to Yes, after mixing a solution and putting the bottle
back on the scale, the system will show a message, showing the weight of the
bottle before mixing, and weight after, and ask the operator to confirm to
continue to make the solution. If the option is set to No, this message will not be
shown and the system will continue to make the solution without the necessity
for the operator to confirm.
Auto select Mix position: When this option is set to Yes, the system will automatically allocate a solution
to mix into the next available mix position. For example if a solution is already
mixing in position 1, and a new solution is prepared when requires a mix, the
software will instruct the operator to put that solution in mix position 2. If set to
No, the system will ask the operator to choose where to place the solution for
mixing, so in the example above, the operator can choose to place the solution
in mix position anywhere between 2 to 6.
Second Mix Enabled: When the option is set Yes, the system will automatically allocate a solution to
st
be mixed to the second mix position if the 1 is full.
Solution Pre-Caution:
Low Stock Pre-Caution: This is a precaution level, used to warn when a solution is about to run out of
stock. In the browse option is SPS; there are two warning levels, low stock and
low-precaution
Lifetime Pre-Caution Hour: This is the precaution level to warn when a solution is about to run out of
lifetime.

Linking SPS database to Dispenser DP database
The database used for SPS is a separate database to that used for dispenser DP program. However the two
databases can be linked such that when a solution is defined in DP, the information is automatically updated in the
SPS database. To share solution data between dispensing program (AutoLab TF/TFC DP program) and solution
making program (AutoLab SPS program), a link first has to be defined and configured.
A network share first has to be created first, so that SPS PC can read data from the dispenser PC. Typically drive C:
on the dispenser PC should be mapped as drive G: on the SPS PC. Once this has been done, the SPS program
needs to be configured.
In SPS program, go to Parameters, Link setting:
The directory where the link file on the dispenser PC is stored needs to be selected, by selecting the “Set Directory”
button. For Linking with AutoLabTF system, the default location should be: G:\AutoLabTF\Exchange\Machine.
For Linking with AutoLabTFC system, the default location should be: G:\AutoLabTFC\Exchange\Machine.
The linked file name is stock.x; the x represents the machine number to link to.
Once this has been set, then the link needs enabling. Do this by clicking on the Toggle Link button. The Link status
should then appear as “Linked”

Linking SPS database to Dispenser DP database (cont…)
To check if the SPS system is correctly linked with TC/TFC system, in SPS program, click on the button in
the toolbar, and the screen below will appear:
If the PCs have been successfully linked, then “Linked” will appear.
Test by creating a solution in DP program, and then check to see if the data appears in SPS.
Note that when a solution is defined in DP, then the same solution information will be automatically updated in SPS
database. However the solution in SPS will have to be reselected, and the process to use for making that solution
and the dilute process will have to be defined for that solution, since the make solution process information is not
defined within DP programs.
Note also that any new solution data defined in SPS will NOT be automatically updated in the DP database.
Therefore it is important that all new solution data is first defined in DP, and the solution data recalled in SPS and
make process information then added.
The “Update” button on the “Solution Setup” screen in SPS is for executing an update of all the current solution data
from the DP database into the SPS database. This option should never need to be used, except for example where
there are discrepancies between the data defined in PD and that defined in SPS. Pressing this button will ensure
that both sets of database are synchronised, i.e. data from DP will update and overwrite the data in SPS
The “Backup” button on the “Solution Setup” screen in SPS is for backup SPS solution data. Click the button to enter
backup screen. The backup data is stored in the directory C:\AutoLabSPS\Database\Backup.
The “Restore” button on the “Solution Setup” screen in SPS is for restoring SPS solution data. Click the button to
enter restore screen. Select a backup data to restore.

COM Port: This defines the COM Port to which the SPS connects to the PC, normally COM1
Baud rate: This must be set to 57600, and the scale itself also set to 57600 baud
Timeout (ms): This must be set to 1000
Demo Mode Available:
If you want to run the program in demo mode (without system connected), you need to tick the option “Demo Mode

AutoLab Report
A new report program has been created to fulfill customer‟s request. This program has also been
requested by the Coats group, to be used in every Coats site running AutoLab TF. However the program
may be useful for other customers also. The program prints a report and summary of all dispensed
reports, by batch or by recipe, to be able to show the throughput of the dispenser. The program name is
ALTFREPORT.exe, stored under the DP folder.
The program will print reports and also export the data to an Excel spreadsheet of a pre-defined format
(this format is not changeable)
The program must run with AutoLab TF software, v 1.0.4 sr1 or higher (and v 1.0.4 beta 7),
because it needs to use a new database file “Dispensedlog.dbf”, which will be created automatically by
this version of software. And, because the data file is new, only the dispensed data after the software
has been upgraded to v 1.0.4 sr1 or v 1.0.4 beta 7 will be showed.
Only recipes dispensed since the new version of software is installed will be shown in the report. Old
dispensed recipes will not be shown, due to the fact that the new programs now create a new special
database when dispensing recipes for the purpose of this new report function.
There are 3 sections in the programs:
- Batch Report
- Recipe Report
- Setup

Label printout
A new function has been created to fulfill a special request for a customer, Durkan. It is special for the
customer to print a basic dispense recipe label, and print just the recipe code and name on label paper
immediately after the recipe is dispensed. There is one new program called LabelPrintOut.exe, under
the Control folder.
The program must to run with AutoLab TF software, v 1.0.4sr1 or higher version.
To make the report program work, you need to make the settings as below:
Label Printout Program
Run the LabelPrintOut.exe program to set the printer, font and the space between recipe code and
Recipe name to fit with the format of the paper size setup.
When opening the “LabelPrintOut” program for the first time, users need to define the printer which is to
be used for printing the label by selecting the “Current Printer”. Click “Change” button beside “Current
Printer”, it will show the standard Windows printer setup screen.
Users can also change the font of the printed label by selecting the “Current Font”. Click “Change” button
beside “Current Font”, it will show the standard Windows font setup screen.
The “Color Name Position” is for setting the distance between “Recipe Code” and “Color Name” on the
printed label. If you choose “1” the distance between “Recipe Code” and “Color Name” will be 2.0 inches.
If the setting is 2, the distance between “Recipe Code” and “Color Name” will be 2.2 inches. One extra
scale will add 0.2 inch.
After setting up, click “Test” button to test.

PreBatch:
Moving a batch from Pre-Batch (in Current Batch Management) to (Current Work Batch), a *.A file will be
created.
There are 8 bits for the *.A file name. The first 3 bits represents the day, and the rest 5 bits represent the
seconds of the day. For example, the date is 2/12 2004, and time is 10:15AM, the file name should be
04329415.A. It is for dispensing the batch immediately.
If you set the start time for dispensing a batch, for example, the start time is set to 2/13
For every 5 seconds, the Control program will scan the directory to see if there is *.A file present.
CompleteBatch:
After dispensing of a batch of recipes are finished. The Control program will create a *.ok file with all the
information about the recipes have been dispensed under the directory.
The DP will scan the directory for every 2 minutes, and using the information inside *.ok file to create the
dispensing record
Machine:
When TFC/TF and SPS are networked, the stock.x under the directory is used for exchanging the solution
data. The extension “x” represents machine number.
