Do not merely refer to or repeat the language in the organizational document. List each activity separately in the order of importance based on the relative time and other resources devoted to the activity. Indicate the percentage of time for each activity. Each description should include, as a minimum, the following: (a) A detailed description of the activity including its purpose and how each activity furthers your exempt status. (b) When the activity was or will be initiated. (c) Where and by whom the activity will be conducted. 1.0 Education 1(a). 80 % CtAUG has been conducting monthly meetings in Farmington, CT, since February, 2002. This is the organization’s primary activity. During the meetings, which normally last for about 5 hours, people having an interest in the development and use of MICROSOFT Corporation’s ACCESS Database Program, and other software with which it works, make presentations on the programming, operation, and distribution of programs written using ACCESS. The meetings are always free and open to the Public, since the objective of the organization is to facilitate the use of this remarkable program in solving relevant information systems needs. CtAUG is completely independent of MICROSFOT Corporation. We share a mutual interest in the development and application of their product, the ACCESS Database Program, and programs with which it works (WINDOWS, SQL Databases, etc.). Individuals representing organizations or themselves demonstrate computer applications and methodologies using ACCESS. By sharing their experience, the benefits of the computer programs are distributed to the community at large, not just to commercial organizations. 1 (b) Meetings are conducted once a month on the Second Wednesday of the month, from about 1700 to 2100. Monthly meetings are for the edification of the computer professional and the anyone else using ACCESS, and are free and open to the Public. Occasionally, CtAUG will sponsor a special event, to raise funds or address a specific technology related to ACCESS. 1 (c) Our meetings and special events are usually conducted at the offices of MICROSOFT Corporation in Farmington, CT, who donate the use of a conference room and projection equipment to the organization for the occasion. Meetings and other events are advertised using email, telephone, FAX and Internet communications by volunteers and the officers of CtAUG. CtAUG members, representatives of professional organizations, independent software developers and users of the programs regularly make presentations at meetings. These presentations cover the spectrum of applications from introductory topics for new users, intermediate topics for persons engaged in using and developing programs for home or business use, and advanced topics for professional developers. 2. Coordinating Activities with Similar Groups 2 (a) 10% We cooperate with other professional organizations in the New England who have similar interests in computer technology. We regularly contact these organizations to support their activities and exchange information on the latest applications of computer technology. These activites are always open to the public and generally free. We advertise and participate in the activities of similar groups, for example the Boston ACCESS User Group and the The Boston User Groups (a consortium of computer groups in New England.) 2 (b) We have been conducting meetings for software developers since about February of 2002. We hold regular monthly meetings at which technical presentations are made in accordance with (a) above.. We regularly make presentations before the Boston ACCESS User Group. We have participated in software Page 2 of 7 Ca501a.doc Connecticut ACCESS User Group, Inc. 501 C (3) Data 8/13/2009 distribution projects with The Boston User Groups (WINDOWS 2003) 2 (c) These activities are organized from our offices West Hartford, CT, and conducted at organizations who volunteer their facilities for our use (mainly Microsoft Corporation). Activities are coordinated using email, telephone, FAX and Internet communications by the President, Secretary-Treasurer and volunteers. As the organization matures, we expect that more members will be assigned to these activities. These activities promote our exempt status. 3. Fund-Raising 3 (a) 10% We expect that 10% of our activities will be devoted to raising funds to carry on the goals of the organization. The funds we raise will be used to expand and enhance our educational goals, and the various modes of communication we use such as Email, U.S. Post, FAX and The Internet. In addition we will be able to purchase hardware and software needed to demonstrate the relevant technologies. We will promote the activities of groups engaged in similar activities and having similar goals. Fund raising will be by soliciting local companies, donations from individuals who share our interests and goals, and possibly grants which support technical innovation. 3 (b) We expect to mount a fund-raising campaign once a year. This will be done by fund-raising appeals via mail, email and website postings. Our fund-raising activities to date have been sporadic. 3 (c) Again, these activities will be conducted by mailings from our office in West Hartford, and from special meetings with volunteers for these purposes. Include details of fundraising activities such as selective mailings, formation of fundraising committees, use of volunteers or professional fundraisers, etc. Attach representative copies of solicitations for financial support. 3. Our fundraising plans are being developed. We expect to employ the normal methods of fundraising including: direct mail, email and Web site advertising using volunteers. When justified, we shall form a Fundraising Committee to direct these activities. We will also plan special events featuring speakers and notables at which funds will be raised. But, we have no specific plans for these activities at this time. When justified, professional fuqndraisers will be employed.
