The Clerk Private Bills Unit The Scottish Parliament Edinburgh EH99 1SP Dear Sirs Glasgow Airport Rail Link Bill Scotland Gas Networks plc We, Scotland Gas Networks plc, of Inveralmond House, 200 Dunkeld Road, Perth, PH1 3AQ (“the Company”) write to object to the above named Bill which is being promoted by Strathclyde Passenger Transport. The Company is a gas transporter authorised under Section 7 of The Gas Act 1986 (as amended by The Gas Act 1995) having statutory powers and duties with regard to the conveyance of gas. The Company’s objections to the Bill are set out as follows:1. The Company supplies gas through apparatus within the area affected by the works proposed by the Promoters and has property interests which will also be affected. The Company is concerned that such property and apparatus will be severely affected by the proposals contained within the Bill. Although the Company does not challenge the principle of the Bill, it does object to some of the powers proposed to be conferred on the promoters and is concerned that the Bill does not provide adequate protective provisions for the benefit of its apparatus and property and protection of its statutory rights and obligations. It is the Company’s view that the Bill should not be passed into law unless amendments are made to it and sufficient assurances are given to the Company to ensure the protection of the property and the safety, and the safe operation of its apparatus. Without such amendments and assurances, the Company fears that the proposals will have an adverse impact on its business. Furthermore, the safe operation of gas pipelines is paramount.
All correspondence in relation to this objection should be addressed to the writer at the above address. Yours faithfully, Helen Martin Property Solicitor
