2007 ASCA Committee Mission Statements
Correctional Safety The Correctional Safety Committee will gather and share best practices for maintaining staff, inmate, and institutional stability. The committee will consider emerging technologies and advancements that will serve to improve correctional safety. Specifically, the committee will: (1) Develop a method of gathering and sharing best practices for maintaining correctional safety; (2) Make periodic presentations to ASCA membership and invite experts to make presentations on selected PREA topics as they affect ASCA agencies during appropriate ASCA events; (3) Develop position papers as necessary for ASCA approval; (4) Attend federal hearings/meetings and when appropriate, assist the President and Executive Directors in making presentations delineating ASCA positions regarding PREA issues and regulations; (5) Serve as a liaison between ASCA and researchers; and (6) Seek funding for ASCA initiatives with regard to Correctional Safety.
