WRITING PERFORMANCE WORK STATEMENTS

Audience: Program personnel who develop performance work statements to
describe their service contract requirements. Contracting personnel
who must review or critique performance work statements will also
Description: FAR Part 37 requires agencies to use performance-based methods to
to the maximum extent practicable when contracting for services,
which means telling the contractor what to do, not how to do it. This
is a hands-on course – be prepared to think and write.
Objectives: -Discuss the policies and procedures governing the use of PWS
-Describe the statement of objectives (SOO) approach to explaining
-Explain considerations for development of a PWS in response to a SOO
-Write the PWS and quality assurance surveillance plan
-Discuss performance-based considerations for evaluation of offers,
award and administration of the contract
Time: 8:00am – 4:00pm each day
