ALL-STAR BOOTS ON PARADE UNVEILED TODAY
Thirty-Three Five-Foot-High Boots to be on Display in
            Downtown Houston through All-Star Game
HOUSTON – In celebration of the 75th Annual Major League Baseball All-
Star Game being held in downtown Houston at Minute Maid Park on July
13, Major League Baseball, the Houston Astros, Central Houston Civic
Improvement, and Houston businesses are teaming up for All-Star Boots
on Parade. Thirty-three Texas-sized cowboy boots (one representing
each of the 30 teams in Major League Baseball plus one each for the
National League, American League, and the All-Star Game) will be on
display at locations throughout downtown Houston through the All-Star
Game.

Four of the All-Star Boots were unveiled today at Halliburton Plaza in
front of Minute Maid Park by Marla Miller, Major League Baseball
Senior Vice President of Special Events; Pam Gardner, Houston Astros
President of Business Operations; and Bob Eury, Central Houston Civic
Improvement President. Three of the boots unveiled – the National
League boot, American League boot, and the All-Star Game boot – are
sponsored by Halliburton and will remain on display in Halliburton
Plaza at Minute Maid Park. The fourth boot unveiled was the Houston
Astros boot, which will be located at Main Street Square (1000 Main
Street).

The whimsically-designed All-Star Boots will be located throughout
downtown Houston in high-traffic areas. The rollout of the boots to
their downtown locations begins in the next few days, with all boots in
place no later June 17. Downtown businesses wishing to sponsor an All-
Star Boot may contact Dennis Greer at (713) 650-1470.

A complete All-Star Boots on Parade map with sponsors’ names and boot
locations will be produced over the next couple of weeks and available
to the public in numerous ways:

 Distributed at John Hancock All-Star FanFest being held at the
George R. Brown Convention Center (July 9-13)
 Distributed at Minute Maid Park and other downtown
         establishments

 Displayed on websites of the Houston Astros (www.astros.com),

          (www.downtowndistrict.org), Central Houston
          (www.centralhouston.org), and participating sponsors

The five-foot-tall All-Star Boots will be auctioned off to the public
on MLB.com in late July following the All-Star Game. Fans from all
over the country will be able to bid on their favorite teams’ boots to
keep as a one-of-a-kind collectible from the 75th Annual All-Star Game.
Proceeds from the auction will go to the Astros in Action Foundation
to benefit downtown’s Main Street Square, the recently completed
pedestrian plaza featuring dramatic water fountains.

The centerpiece of a bold project to revive Houston's traditional
retail core, Main Street Square is located downtown between two light
rail stations in the 900 and 1100 blocks of Main Street. METRORail
trains zip through the center of a 250-foot-long, eight-inch deep
reflecting pool in the 1000 block of Main, where 13 jets of water arc
40 feet into the air. Thirty-nine smaller jets animate the perimeter
of the pool.

The 2004 All-Star Boots on Parade sponsors to date include:
Halliburton Company; Landry's Restaurants, Inc.; Burlington Resources;
ChevronTexaco; Crescent Real Estate Equities, Ltd.; First City Tower;
Foley’s; The Hanover Company; Houston Astros; Houston Chronicle; ING
