Rochester, Minn. - First District Congressman Gil Gutknecht, a member of the House Budget Committee, today issued the following statement regarding the President's budget proposal: "The President deserves the opportunity to present and explain his budget proposal to Congress and the American people. The Administration will have to justify spending that borrows hundreds of billions of dollars from our children and grandchildren. They will also have to realize that we have a Republican Congress that has become accustomed to balancing the budget and paying down the debt. Those of us on the Budget Committee should keep an open mind and be prepared to ask tough questions." -30Attention radio news directors: An actuality of Congressman Gutknecht's remarks is available in our Radio NewsLine.
