									CMARD Winnipeg Website Internship
This position is open to Aboriginal people, visible minorities and persons with disabilities.

Location: Working from home (office space may be provided if required)
Salary: $5,000.00 contract, to be completed by December 31, 2011.
Time Requirement: Approximately 200 hours
Work Hours: Flexible, to be set by incumbent in consultation with CMARD Winnipeg.

The CMARD (Coalition of Municipalities Against Racism and Discrimination) Winnipeg Website
Intern will be responsible for researching the content for an easy-to-use website to help the
Citizens of Winnipeg access information and resources which promote an inclusive and respectful
community, and will provide links to anti-racism initiatives in Canada. The position involves
working with the Citizen Equity Committee of the City of Winnipeg, the CMARD Winnipeg
Working Group and a website developer to design and develop sections of the website, to
provide resources related to racism and discrimination and to promote inclusion and respect for
diversity within the City of Winnipeg.

   - Meet with CMARD Working Group once a month (Thursdays 4:30-6:30 pm).
   - Work with the CMARD Working Group to assist in website design for the City of Winnipeg
      CMARD initiative.
   - Search worldwide web for information on anti-racism and discrimination initiatives,
      agencies and organizations in Winnipeg and Canada.
   - Compile a list of relevant agencies, departments and organizations including contact
      information and website addresses into a database.
   - Prepare detailed record of information sources related to anti-racism and discrimination
      initiatives in Winnipeg and Canada (using excel database to manage information).
   - Research, write and edit promotional materials for the web.
   - Compile information/reports on racism in Winnipeg and Canada.
   - Screen potential website companies and report details to CMARD Working Group.
   - Set up meetings with website builder and meet with website builder.
   - Prepare a list of important dates for National Diversity events.
   - Document Diversity related initiatives and organizations for Winnipeg.
   - Prepare summary reports on activities (including generating a list of current anti-racism
      initiatives in Winnipeg).

   - Effective interpersonal communication (both oral & written).
   - Experience using Excel databases
   - Experience using Word documents
   - Searching world wide web
   - Recording detailed information
   - Communicating detailed information
   -   Good organizational skills along with the ability to prioritize and coordinate work in order
       to meet deadlines.

   - Access to a telephone, internet and computer

    - Set up meetings

    - Good attention to detail

Successful candidates will be notified and invited to an interview taking place September
20-21. Candidates must be available for an interview at this time.
