Program Goals
The Mechanical Engineering technology program is designed to provide students with a
comprehensive background in the field of mechanical engineering technology. Emphasis
is on the application and integration of mechanical systems in manufacturing
environments. Students graduating from the program have been exposed to both state of
the industry as well as been introduced to the future trends in the evolution of mechanical
systems. The ultimate goal of the program is to prepare students for a productive career
in industry.

Program Objectives
The specific program objectives needed to meet the goals given above include the
following:

     A strong mathematical foundation
 A strong foundation in technical physics
 A good working knowledge of technical drawing and CAD
 Knowledge of engineering processes and materials
 Knowledge of system integration methods
 Design theory of tools, machines, systems and equipment
 Theory and application of fluid power systems

ASSESSMENT APPROACH :
Successfully complete all MERT-Technical courses with a “C” or better grade.

ASSESSMENT MEASURES:
Maintain full compliance of the MERT curriculum per TAC/ABET accreditation guidelines

TIME LINE:
