					              MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE BOARD OF EDUCATION
                         OF SPALDING PUBLIC SCHOOLS

The special hearing to allow public comment on the proposed budget convened on Monday,
September 12, 2011, at 7:30 p.m. in the Activity room at Spalding Public Schools, 124 South Ash
Street, Spalding, Nebraska. The roll was called and the following Board members were present:
Rankin, Bauer, Walkowiak, Pritchard, Diessner and Berger.

   1.       The meeting was duly called to order and the President announced that a current copy of
            the Open Meetings Act was posted on the south wall in the meeting room.
   2.       Community input and discussion regarding approving or modifying the School District
            of Spalding #55 budget for the 2011-2012 school fiscal year.

The special hearing adjourned at 7:54 pm on Monday, September 12, 2011.


The special hearing for the purpose of setting final tax request convened on Monday, September 12,
2011, at 7:54 p.m. in the Activity room at Spalding Public Schools, 124 South Ash Street, Spalding,
Nebraska. The roll was called and the following Board members were present: Rankin, Bauer,
Walkowiak, Pritchard, Diessner, and Berger.

         1. The meeting was duly called to order and the President announced that a current copy of
            the Open Meetings Act was posted on the south wall in the meeting room.

   II.      Community input and discussion regarding setting or modifying tax rate for the general
            fund levy at $1.021670 ($1,216,666.65) and special building fund at $0.028415
            ($33,838.38) for the Spalding Public School Greeley County School District #39-0055
            budget for the 2011-2012 school fiscal year.

The special meeting adjourned at 8:04 o’clock p.m. on Monday, September 12th, 2011.


The regular September meeting convened on Monday, September 12, 2011, at 8:05 p.m. in the
Activity room at Spalding Public Schools, 124 South Ash Street, Spalding, Nebraska. The roll was
called and the following Board members were present: Rankin, Bauer, Walkowiak, Pritchard,
Diessner, and Berger.

   1. The meeting was duly called to order and the President announced that a current copy of the
      Open Meetings Act was posted on the south wall in the meeting room.
   2. The Agenda was approved as provided by the Board.
   3. The Board approved the minutes of the following meetings:
          a. Regular Board of Education meeting held on August 11th, 2011.
   4. The Board approved receipts, expenditures and payment of bills and payroll as submitted by
      the administration.
   5. The Board approved the treasurer’s report.
   6. The Board approved, as proposed and reviewed, the 2011/2012 General Fund Budget for the
      School District of Spalding Public School Greeley County School District #39-0055,
      including a Budget of Expenditures of 2,090,000.00 as advertised and reviewed.
   7. The Board approved, as proposed and reviewed, the 2011/12 budgets for the Depreciation
      Fund, Building Fund, Employee Benefits Fund, School Lunch Fund, and School Activities

       Fund of Spalding Public School, Greeley County School District #39-0055, as advertised
       and reviewed.
   8. The Board resolved as proposed and reviewed: 1) the General Fund property tax request of
       $1,216,666.65 with an estimated property tax levy of $1.021670, as advertised for the
       Spalding Public School District 39-0055 General Fund Budget, and the 2011/12 Special
       Building fund property tax request of $33,838.38 with an estimated property tax levy of
       $0.028415, as advertised for District 39-0055’s Special Building Fund. Total estimated
       property tax levy is $1.050085.
   9. The Board approved boy’s golf as a Knight’s spring sport.
   10. The Board approved the purchase of a new copy machine from Modern Methods out of the
       depreciation fund.
   11. The Board discussed school newsletter-SPS Shoutouts, activity update, RTI, CCC college
       night, Engrade and online calendar, conference meeting, service projects, state of schools
       report and current student numbers, state test results released, e-rate projections released,
       maintenance/cleaning update, staff vision/mission development, and implementing John
       Baylor test prep program for grades 10-12.
   12. The regular October meeting will be Tuesday, October 11, 2011 at 8:00 PM in the Activity
       room.

The meeting adjourned at 9:21 o’clock p.m. on Monday, September 12, 2011.
