                                     Educational Scholarships

The Sam Tronnes Memorial Scholarship Fund (STMF) has been developed to remember one of our hockey
family and to offer higher education assistance to deserving members of our hockey community.

Hockey is a sport of effort and commitment and to be able to reward some of our youth for that term of
commitment is a worthwhile cause. This program is designed to allow participating SDAHA local associations the
opportunity to offer senior student athletes to receive an award.

This program will be administered through CorTrust Bank and the Sam Tronnes Memorial Scholarship Fund
Executive Board it is requested that each and every association participate, by providing the names of senior
players to be considered for the scholarship award.

Scholarship amounts will range from $250 to $1000 plus. Amount to be awarded to each recipient will be
determined by the Scholarship Executive Board. Winners will be chosen from all applicants by the STMF
Executive Board. Associations may have more than one award recipient or may not have any award recipients.
Winners will be announced one week before the youth varsity state tournament

Criteria for eligibility for the Memorial Scholarship:

        Application deadline is February 28 , 2011. All applications should be sent to:

       Applicant must have participated within the SDAHA program for a period of at least 5 years.

       Applicant will have maintained a high school GPA of 3.2 or better through the first semester of the senior

       Applicant should indicate how they are giving back to their community.

       Player will not have a record of any match penalty or be under league suspension.

       Applicant may be either male or female. Each association can submit as many applications as they
        deem appropriate. STMF will determine winners based on applications from all associations.

       Only players pursuing post secondary education in an accredited educational institution are eligible.

       All recipients must be enrolled in an approved program at the time the scholarship becomes effective.
        50% of funds will be issued at the awards ceremony and the remainder will be issued at the end of the fall
        semester once enrollment is verified.

       A 2.5 GPA must be maintained for the first term of study after receipt of the scholarship. Verification of
        GPA may be required.
                   In the event an award recipient withdraws from school during the
                    first semester, the award must be returned to STMS Fund.
